Dearest all,

asmadhacharyan His Holiness Srimad Paravakottai Andavan Thaniyan:

Srivaasa Ranga Parakaala Munitrayaapta Lakshmaatma

Rakshana Yathitva Yugaagamaantham /

Achaarya Bhakthi Pari pootham Anargha Seelam

Gopaala Desika Munim Gurum Aasrayaamaha //

(meaning)

We seek refuge at the sacred feet of our revered AchAryan, Sri Gopala MahA

Desikan, who received the sacred rites of samAsrayaNam , Bhara SamarpaNam from

the great AchAryA, Sri Srinivasa MahA Desikan (Srimad Poundarikapuram Andavan);

ThurIyAsRaamam from Sri Srinivasa MahA Desikan (Srimad VeNNaaRRankarai Andavan)

and the wealth of Ubhaya VedAntham from Srimad Abhinava Ranganatha Brahmatantra

Swantantra Parakaala Yatindra Maha Deshikan. He shines with illustrious

sadAchAram and is resplendent with his limitless AchArya Bhakthi.

Swami Desikan stresses on the importance of AchArya avalampanam and AchAryA's

mahOpakAram through his prayAsai and the need for anushtAnam after initiation

through samAsrayaNam and the performance of Prapatthi . He mentioned that there

is no substitute to show our gratefulness to the AchArya except to fall at his

sacred feet again and again (puna: puna: PraNamya). He reminded us of our duties

as SishyAs to our AchAryAs with thoughts reminiscent of Sishya krithyAdhikAram (

Swami Desikan's AdhikAra sangraham : Paasuram 38 ):

Swami Desikan mentions that

Kainkaryamaavadhu sEshi ugandha yEval thozhil seyvadhu.

Our Master, our Lord our Acharyas- whatever is endearing to them; whatever is

pleasing to them, we should be willing and ready to do.

The celebration of Samprokshanam is on July 9th. All are welcome. All should

visit the new Sannidhis on their own volition. Such a big and noble task

can’t get completed unless each one of us take interest and offer support in

all ways. One should take initiative to visit and participate. The estimated

expenses for samprokshanam is 15 lakhs (or 1.5 Million Rupees).

Let us enjoy what are Agamas and how are they relevant today?

The vaishnava agamas, as is well known are two-fold as VaikhAnasa and

Paancharaathra. From time immemorial, for reasons unknown, worship in the South

Indian Vaishnava temples has been going on, according to these two Agama

traditions. Bit for certain minute details, there is virtually no differene

between the two workship routines in the two traditions. Vedanta Desika in his

Saranagati Deepika makes it clear.

tvam paancharaatrikanaeyEna…. dinAni dhanyA: (verse 32)

Oh Lord! People perform Your Aradhanam daily – in temples and homes- with

great fervour and affectionate sparsam. They do it as ordained by one of other

vaideeka Agamas (procedures). Paancharaatra is a system once given out, over a

course of five days, by the Lord Himself. So is the alternative system of

VaikhAnasa Agama, by Sage Vikhanasa. Two different lines of action, both valid,

and authoritative.

A prapannan (one who has performed his saranagati at the lotus feet of the Lord)

uses this procedure for spending and enjoying the remaining part of his life,

worshipping Him and serving Him at the temples and at home (his Athu perumAL).

All Agamas are based on the pivotal fact that God is represented in the form of

deities and worshipped. He due to His unbounded grace on us, takes the form of

these moorthis for showering His grace on us. He showers His daya on us by

taking these easily accessible forms for us to see Him, enjoy Him, His divine

form and mediate on His form easily.

Let us enjoy the glories of arachaa roopam tomorrow..

We earnestly appeal to selected friends, sishyas, abhimanis to separately

undertake this part of the Asramam branch establishment. If the burden is

shared by contributing separate parcels of Rs. 10,000/- each or even less by

about 150 persons for this, we could manage the task and complete the

Samprokshanam.
