Visvamithra prayed Mahalakshmi . Mahalakshmi ----as " Sarawathi river took Vasishta in water and sweeped away in flood( carried him in the floods). At that time, other sages prayed Saraswathi river to protect Vasishta from Her anger. Hence, She is called " Apakaamini" At the request of sages, She stopped to sweep Vasishta in the water-current. Hence She is called " Anapakaamini" Om Anapakaaminyai Nama: This manthra will give all relief from all sufferings/dangers when chanted This is the 8th Nama in " Sri Sooktham" This contains nine aksharas Salutations to " Sri Anapakaamini " You are one of the Vishnu bakthas. Sri Mahalakshmi is ever staying with the bakthas of Her husband( Sri Vishnu).
