sma vai thath vidhvaamsaH aahuH poorve mahaaSaalaah mahaaSrothriyaaH na naH

adhya kaSchana asrutham amathamavijnaatham udhaaharishyathi ithi hyebhyaH

vidaajnchakruH

vidhvaamsaH- those who know this

poorve- ancient

 

mahaaSaalaaH – householders

 

mahaaSrothriyaaH – and great vedic scholars

 

aahuH sma- said

 

naH –for us

 

na

kaSchana – nothing else

 

aSrutham- not heard

 

amatham- not thought of

 

avijnaatham – not known

 

adhya- now

 

udhaaharishyathi

ithi- would be pointed out as such

 

because

 

ebhyaH – from these ( triplication)

 

vidhaanjchakruH- they understood everything.

 

It means that from the description of the Being who

willed to become many and created these three elements and entered into them as

their innerself and gave them name and form, it is known that the Being,

Brahman is everything. This is the highest knowledge knowing which there is

nothing else to be known.

 

What have they understood?

 

Yadhu rohitham

iva abhooth ithi thejasaH thath roopam ithi thath vidaajnchakruH yadhu Suklam

iva abhooth ithi apaam thath vidhaajnchakryH yadhu krshNam iva abhoothithi

annasya roopam ithi thath vidhaanjchakruh

 

Yadhu rohitham

iva abhooth ithi

 

Whatever appeared as red

 

thejasaH thath

roopam ithi thath vidaajnchakruH

 

that they knew to be that of thejas

 

yadhu

Suklam iva abhooth ithi apaam thath vidhaajnchakruH

 

Whatever appeared as white that they knew to be

that of water

 

yadhu

krshNam iva abhoothi thath annasya roopam ithi thath vidhaanjchakruh

 

whateve appeared as black that they knew to be that

of food , that is earth.

 

Yath avijnaatham

iva abooth itghi ethaasaam eva dhevthaanaam samaasa ithi thath vidhaanjchakruH

yaThaa khalu nu somya imaaH thisraH dhevathaaH purusham praapya

thrivrththrivrth ekaikaa bhavathi thath me vijaaneehi ithi

 

Yath avinjaatham

iva abhooth ithi

 

Which ever seemed to be not known that

 

thath vidhaanjchakruH

 

They knew that is

 

ethaasaam

eva dhevathaanaam samaasaH ithi

 

only a

combination of these three deities.(elements)

 

somya-dear

 

vijaaneehi

me yaThaa- know from me how

 

imaaH

thisraaH dhevathaaH- these three

deities

 

purusham

prapya –reaching man ( forming the

combination of man)

 

thrivrth

thrivrth ekaikaa bhavathi- each

becomes threefold.

 

 

They understand that everything in the universe perceptible

or imperceptible, that is, everything that is created , is only the combination

of these three elements, ( which includes the other two , akasa ,vayu which is

understood)

 

Then the father starts explaining how these three elements

combine inside man, that is the parts of man is described as the combination of

these three.
