This Friday, January 31st is Thai Uttiradam.

The star Uttiradam bears the honor of being the

Thirunakshatram of at least two great Acharyas,

(i) ALavandhAr, and (ii) Srimad Injimedu Azhagiya

Singar. Friday being Thai Uttitradam, it is

the Thirunakshatram of the 42nd Srimad Azhagiya

Singar, also known as, Injimedu Azhagiya Singar.

 

One among the many upakArams this Azhagiya Singar

has bestowed upon sishyas is the publication of

Sri Nrisimha Priya. While we continue to enjoy

the benefits of Sri Nrisimha Priya, the back issues

are a treasure trove of unimaginable value.

 

Earlier in 2002 Sri Malalan has seen it fit to make

this treasure available to the present generation

as well as future generations through digitization

of all the past issues of Sri Nrisimha Priya. With

the command of Srimad Azhagiya Singar this effort

was started in October 2002. At present scanning

has been completed from 1942 to 1965. This is

about a third of all the issues. (Some issues

are missing and we are trying to locate them. If

any of the readers of this forum has old issues

going back to 1940's and 1950's please let me know.)

 

We are now in the process of building sorted

indexes. Once this is ready the first installement

of scanned issues will be released.

 

Sri V. Sadagopan is spearheading the fund raising

effort for this project which is estimated to cost

about $7,000. If you wish to help this project please

contact him.

 

In the present note I would like to share with

you an article that appeared in 1965 about

Srimad Injimedu Azhagiya Singar's Taniyan. The

article was written by Sri Purisai Swami who

recently ascended to Paramapadam. The article

appeared in the Kurodi varusham/Thai maasam issue

(Samputam 24/Sanjiakai 1), nearly 37 years ago.
