VazhththuppA 3 & 4 2. Abstract 3 vaiyattil nammAzhvAr vaikAsi nALviSakam * poigaiyAr Adi polindangam – kaitavak * kAriruLai nIkkum kadiravanAi vandudittAr * sIriya tenkurugUr sErntu. Here the author celebrates the divya avatAra vaibhavam of AzhvAr. NammAzhvAr was born in the tamil month of `vaikAsi' in the star `viSakam'. His divyamEni was shining with all AzhvArs (poigaiyAr Adi) present as his angam and nammAzhvAr as the Atman of that avatAram. He was like a divine Sun-rise in destroying the darkness caused by `vEda bhAhya and kudrushTi' matams. The town tenkurugUr is celebrated as the best (sIriya) in the sense that even the achit vastu like the paddy is doing the kaimkaryam of `kavari veesuthal'. 4 vAzhiSaTa kOpan * vaguLamalar tArmarban * vAzhi madurakavi vAzhttiDum – AzhiyAn * sEnait talaivanin sIrava tAramagi * vAnai aDaivippAn vAkku. While entering this leelA-vibhUti world for our sake, AzhvAr kept the " SaTam " vAyu away just with a `HoonkAram' and hence he is known as SaTakOpan. He is also called `vakuLAbharaNan " as his tirumEni was always adorned with the garland of`vakuLa' flowers (Mimusops Elengi). He was born in this world as the amsAvatAram of Lord chakrapANi's sEnESan – srImad viSvakSEnar. He himself practiced what he gave us as the `tamizh maRai'. Author recalls all these, while doing mangaLASAsanam on the AzhvAr. Abstract: The holy birth of AzhvAr for the sake of lifting up the poor souls is celebrated in these two poems. We shall continue the vAzhththu-poems in the next postings. ADiyEn Mukundan rAmAnuja dAsan
