Details presented in this post: 1. VazhththuppA 11,12 & 13 2. Abstract 11 Agattai OrmayarAl AttumA enbaduvum * mOgattAl tAntanatAi mUzhguvatum – pOgiDavE * sArat tamizhvaN SaTakOpan mAmaRaiyAl * nAraNatAL dAsanAnEn nAn. Benevolence of AzhvAr is expressed here. The powerful SaTakOpa-AzhvAr gave the essence of vEdAs in tamizh as `tiruvAimozhi'. By absorbing the meaning of this tamizhmaRai, dEhAtmAbhimAnam and ego will disappear. One will easily find his true nature as SEshan to bhagavAn (when he gets the essence of AzhvAr's pasurams under a sadAchAryan's feet). 12 SaraNA gatiyinRi sArvumaR RonRum * araNAgA tenRE aruLi – SaraNA * gatisei turaittaruLum kArimARa ninRi * gatimaRRon Rillai karutu. Whereas the population of akinchanars is growing nowadays, AzhvAr clearly indicates that there can be no other means than SaraNAgati (sAnga prabadanam with its 5 elements). AzhvAr himself did SaraNAgati to perumAL; and as an AchAryan, he has taught this sAdyOpAyam to us. We don't have any other asylum than AzhvAr himself. 13 guNamaRRa gyAnamenum kURRugaL * vEda maNamaRRa tAlaRuttAr mARar – iNaiyaRRu * yAnEnee yenRaruLi yAdavamAl tALsErntAr * tEnEtA nettezhuttait tErntu. AzhvAr strongly rejected the kudrushTi preachings which say that brahmam is nothing but mere knowledge without any characteristics (nirviSEsha chinmAtram). They are SruTi-nyAyAbhEdams and they have no base in vEdAs. With the help of tirumantram, AzhvAr could get the complete knowledge of the true nature of brahmam, srIman nArAyaNA. Endowed with untiring and unblemished wisdom, AzhvAr could establish that SaraNAgati is the only way for mOksham (and unending kaimkarya prApti). Abstract: These 3 pAsurams cover the importance of SaraNAgati and nammAzhvAr's mercy in teaching the poor souls that bharanyAsam is the only sAdyOpAyam for akinchanAs like us. We shall continue the vAzhththu-poems in the next postings. ADiyEn Mukundan rAmAnuja dAsan
