VazhththuppA 19, 20 & 21 2. Abstract 19 seDiyAya valvinaiyEn seelamilA dOn-nAn * neDiyAn SaTakOpan neerE – aDiyEn * siRiya teruLkoNDu seitudiyaik kETTu * periya aruLseiveer peidu. We are aware of our lowliness while approaching the great AzhvAr- AchAryan, SrImath SaTakOpar. However, as we came to know of ourselves as `aDiyOngaL' with AzhvAr's grace, we pray to AzhvAr to bear with us on this little stuti on AzhvAr's tiruvaDi and beg for his unlimited blessings to be poured on us. 20 vAzhi SatakOpar vAzhi parAnkuSar * AzhiyAn sEnESa amsattAr – vAzhiyen * tAimozhiyAm deivat tamizhil maRaittiru * vAimozhiyAm mARanaruL vAkku. 21 vAzhiSaTa kOpan * vakuLA bharaNaguru * vAzhitiru vAsiriam vAimozhi – vAzhi * kariyamAl kAmat tiruviruttam vAzhi * periyatiru vantAdip peedu. These two pAsurams are better recited together as a taniyan on AzhvAr. They simply bring out: * AzhvAr's vaibhavam * His great power in destroying other matams (as they are not at all based on the eternal Sruti) * His four prabhandams naming them individually * His contributions (aruL vAkku) which help in making baddha jeevans realise themselves and attain mOksham. (As tiruvirruttam shows the rasam of 'Love on the Lord', it is mentioned here as 'kAmat tiruviruttam'; while, periya tiruvantAdi is great, wherein AzhvAr proclaims himself to be 'great' to sing on Him. (not due to ahankAra-mamakAram). Abstract: We know that we don't have any good quality to praise nammAzhvAr, but knowing his benevolence, we proceed to make this stotram on him. pAyiram and vAzhttuppAs end with this post. We shall start the first pAsuram of the Satakam on the tirunakshatra-day of AzhvAr.. aDiyEn Mukundan rAmAnuja dAsan
