The esoteric meanings of tiruvAimozhi preserved by emperumAnAr, reached svAmi dESikan through maDaippaLLi AcchAn and his successors. svAmi dESikan, who was very dear to SrI RanganAtha perumAL, carefully brought all these meanings in his dramidOpanishad sAra tAtparya ratnAvaLi, rahasya traya sAram etc., strictly adhering to SarIraka Sastram and hence guarded them safely. It is very similar to his preserving the meanings of grantams such as SrIbhAshyam, in his adhikaraNa sArAvaLi. He did them all in parama-vaidIka way and with the strength of pramANam and sampradAyam. This indeed was by the grace of AzhvAr only. SS-20 paRRuDan piLLAn paramavamsa yAmunar * kaRRuraitta naRporuLaik kATTinAr – muRRilum * ayyanirA mAnusarAl ARA yirappaDiyAi * vaiyattil mARanAl vAzh~ndu. Tiru-uLLam of the mummigaL, nAthamuni, yAmunAchAryA and rAmAnujA on tiruvAimozhi, was personally grasped by tirukkurugai pirAn piLLAn from none other than bhagavat rAmAnujA himself. He recorded this in his tiru-ARAyirappaDi. This grantam is both parama-vaidIkam and shows our SrI-sampradAyam very clearly. Here also, we see the benevolence of AzhvAr. Pearls from the poems: While paying obeisance to our guru-parampara in these two poems, our hearts go to them for safeguarding the esoteric meaning of tiruvAimozhi.
