Prabhandam - pAsuram 33 & 34 2. Pearls from the poems The mapping of nammAzhvAr's magnum opus, tiruvAimozhi, is signified here. SS-33 nURupattAl nURupattu nURugaLAl pattenRu * kURum tirumAl guNangalaiyE – pERumARum * AayirattAl mAmAlE Aamtiru vAimozhi * tUyavan tAdit toDai. The tAtparyam of whole tiruvAimozhi is that the divya dampati is the prApyam and prApakam (goal and the means). To establish this, ten Satakams(hundreds) reveal ten kalyANa guNAs of the Lord. The hundred dasakams(tens) respectively establish the guNAs brought out by the Satakam representing them. So, the dasakams establish one hundred bhagavat guNams in total. The purity of tiruvAimozhi is comparable to that of Sruti. (prAkrutam SrImath azhagiya singar has blessed us with a grantam called ` ErAr guNamum ezhiluruvum'. This grantam explains the kalyANa guNAs of SrIman nArAyaNA, as propounded by bhagavat rAmAnujar in his gadyams; and the divya mangala vigraham of perumAL in detail and lucid manner.) SS-34 toDaivakuLam sUDi tozhudezhundu mARan * maDaitiRanda veLLamAi mAlai – iDaiviDadu * uLLam anubhavit tuttamamAi pongavaruL * vaLLalAnAr vaNkurugUr vandu. After surrendering to perumAL nammAzhvAr was enjoying His kalyANa guNAs, uninterruptedly. All his anubhavam outpoured from him and was well documented by `vaNkurugUr nambikku AaL uriya' SrI madurakavi AzhvAr. Here, nammAzhvAr is venerated as `vaNkurugUr vanda vaLLal' similar to svAmi dESikan's adoration of SrImath rAmAnujar as `perumpUdUr vanda vaLLal'. (The treasure given by both vaLLals is to be here for many many generations to come, unlike the material treasure given by Lord KrishNA to kuSElA or any other vaLLals known from history.) Pearls from the poems: Similar to the Lord's kalyaNa guNAs, nammAzhvAr has vaLLaNmai as one of his divya guNAs. [saTAri Satakam is one of the many classic works of srI. U.vE. M.S.Hari.
