Prabhandam - pAsuram 39 & 40 2. Pearls from the poems SS-39 pAraNangum mAmagaLum pakkam tigazhavaruL * naraNan tALai namakkARAi – seeraNi * vEnkata veRpenna veeRuDan kATTumaruL * pAnguDaittu nammAzhvAr pA. svAmy dESikan adores the tirumalA hills as the one, showing the lotus feet of perumAL. Here, nammAzhvAr's SrIsUktis such as `agalagillEn…' etc, are recalled and adored as equivalent to the vEnkata veRpu itself. While showing the Lord's lotus feet, AzhvAr pAsurams are as huge in blessing us, as this divinely mountain. SS-40 pATTai uLamurugip pADi SaTakOpan * vATTam aDaindazhuvAr vaNpirivil – nATTamuDan * kUDiDa kaNNanaik kUvi aDaindugappAr * kUDik kaLittinbam koNDu. Whenever parAnkuSa nAyaki feels separated from the Lord, she starts singing from her heart and lamenting on the temporary severance. Then she invites kaNNan and enjoys her time in union with this playful mAlOlan. By mentioning `SaTakOpan' here, we feel how soft the AzhvAr's heart is when it comes to bhagavat kAmam, although he was the one who kept away the SaTavAyu just with a hoonkAram. Pearls from the poems: AzhvAr's pAsurams can show simultaneously, how sweet is `kaNNan aDi- iNai' and at the same time, how sad is the separation from Him.
