tALAl nizhaltandu dAmO daranaruTku *

ALAkki nammAzhvAr AtkoLvAr – mALA *

vinaivilangai veTTi viyantamizhAl bOdam *

anaittum aruLi amarndu.

 

The lotus feet of AzhvAr give protection and cool shadow to us. When

we start feeling this pleasant milieu, we gradually comprehend our

sEshatvam to the Lord. Realising our eternal sEshatvam to Sriya:

pati makes us surrender to Him, which will shatter the strong bond

of beginningless karmA.

This is a great gift from AzhvAr which is wrapped in colourful

tamizh.

amarndupuLik keezhmARar ambuyattAL sErnda *

tamarAm madurakavi dAsar – vimalamAi *

kETka tamizhamudAik kESavanaik kaNDamaiyai *

vETkaiyAl sonnAr viyandu.

 

The same lotus feet, which are always here to protect us, were

sought by SrI madurakavi AzhvAr also. Recall the wonderful pAsuram

of svAmi dESikan praising this AzhvAr as `...anbarkkE avatarikkum

Ayan niRka, arumaRaigaL tamizh seidAn tALE koNDu tunbaRRa

madurakavi...'. Instead of visiting kESavan - SrI KrishNan, this

AzhvAr took refuge under the sacred feet of nammAzhvAr. However,

nammAzhvAr described all his kESavAnubhavam to this AzhvAr.This

AzhvAr is revered as SishyOttamar. Only the grace of nammAzhvAr to

this AzhvAr took the form of `aruLic cheyal'.

 

Pearls from the poems:

A map is drawn from the tiruvaDi of AzhvAr to perumAL tiruvaDi,

indicating the enjoyable milestones on the way.

Also it is indicated that being a bhAgavata-dAsan, one will

experience the same bhagavat anubhavam as that of the bhAgavatA.
