KANCHEEPURAM OCT. 19. Sri Poigai Alwar's `Avathara utsavam' will be

celebrated at the Yathokthakari Swamy temple here from October 23 to

November 1 and the Alwar's Sathumarai will be held on November 1.

 

According to Nallappa Narayanan, hereditary executive trustee of the

temple, Sri Manavala Mamunigal Sathumarai will be celebrated on

October 29. Poigai Alwar, first among Alwars, was born 5,000 years

ago at the Poigai Pushkarani here.
