Guest guest Posted January 26, 2010 Report Share Posted January 26, 2010 37. kenopaayena paSyeyam maiThileem janakaathmajaam adhrshto raakshasendhreNa raavaNena dhuraathmanaa By what means shall I see Seetha, the daughter of Janaka, unseen by the Ravana , the wicked king of the rakshasas Kena upaayena- by what means paSyeyam- shall I see maiThileem- Seetha janakaathmajaam- the daughter of Janaka adhrshtaH- unseen ravaNena- by Ravana raakshasendhreNa- the king of rakshasa dhuraathmanaa- and the wicked. 38. na viNasyeth kaTham kaaryam raamasya vidhithaathmanaH ekaam ekaScha pasyeyam rahithe janakaathmajaam How will the task of Rama who knows himself not be ruined and how I alone can see Seetha alone without anyone. katham – how kaaryam – the task raamasya- of Rama vidhithaathmanaH- who knows himself na VinaSyeth- will not be destroyed cha -and paSyeyam- I will see janakaathmajaam- Seetha ekaam alone ekaH rahithe- without any one being there 39.bhoothaaSchaarThaa vipadhyanthe dhesakaalaviroDhithaaH viklavam dhootham aasaadhya thamaH sooryodhye yaThaa With a messenger who is disheartened and working against time and place, the tasks which are ready to be accomplished are ruined like the darkness at sunrise. aasaadhya -getting dhootham -a messenger viklavam -who is disheartened or depressed dheSakaalaviroDhthaH- and one who does things contrary to the time and place, bhoothaaH- existing, meaning already there. arThaaH – objectives vipadhyanthe – are destroyed yaThaa-as thamas- the darkness(is destroyed) sooryodhye- at the sunrise. 40.arThaanarTRhaanthare budDhiH niSchithaapi na Sobhathe ghaathayanthi hi kaaryaaNi dhoothaaH pandithamaaninaH The intellect that discriminates between what is to be done and what is not does not shine if the messengers think themselves to be clever and ruin the task at hand. budDhiH –the intellect niSchithaa api- even if discriminative arTha anarThaanthre- between what is to be done and what should not be done, (arTha means desired objectna danarTha is that not desirable.) na Sobhathe- does not shine (because) dhoothaaH- messengers pandithamaaninaH- who think they are clever (panditha) ghaathayanthi- destroy kaaryaaNi- the tasks (by their arrogance) 41.na vinaSyeth kaTham kaaryam vaiklavyamna kaTham Bhaveth langhanam cha samudhrasya kaTham nu na bhaveth vrThaa How would the task not fail, how would the desperation not set in, and how would the crossing of the ocean be not a waste? kaTham- how kaaryam –the work na vinaSyeth- will not be ruined? kaTham- how na bhaveth- there will not be viklavyam- despair? kaTham- how langhanam –the crossing samudhrasya- of tha ocean na bhaveth- will not be vrThaa- a waste? 42.mayi dhrshte thu rakshobhiH raamasya vidhithaathmanaH bhaveth vyarTham idham kaaryam raavaNaanarTham icChathaH If I am seen by the rakshasas, this mission of Rama for the sake of destroying Ravana will become futile. mayi dhrshte thu- if I am seen raakshobhiH- by the rakshasas idham kaaryam – this task raamasya- of Rama vidhithaathmanaH- whose mind is explicit icChathah – and who wishes raavaNa anarTham- to destroy Ravana (anarTham means undesirable end) bhaveth –will become vyarTham- futile 43. na hi Sakyam kvachith sThaathum avijnaathena raakshasaiH api raakshasaroopeNa kimutha anyena kenachith It is not possible to stay unnoticed in Lanka even in the form of a rakshasa. What else can be said of other forms? Na hi Sakyam- it is not possible indeed sThaathum- to stay kvachith – somewhere avijnaathena- unseen raakshasaiH- by the rakshasas raakshasaroopeNaapi-even with the form of a rakshasa. Kimutha- what else(can be said) Kenachith anyena- by some other (form) 44.vaayurapi athra ajnaathaH na chareth ithi mathirmama Na hi athra avidhitham kimchith raakshasaanaam baleeyasaam I think that even the wind cannot move here unnoticed. There is nothing not know to the rakshasa here who are very strong. mama mathiH- it is my opinion (that) vaayuH api- even the Windows uE na chareth- will not move athra – here avijnaathaH- unnoticed na kimchith- there is nothing avidhitham- not known athra-here raakshasaanaam – for the rakshasaa baleeyasaam- who are very strong. 45.iha aham yadhi thishTaami svena roopeNa samvrthaH Vinaasam upayaasyaami bharthurarThah cha heeyathe If I stay here in my usual form I will be destroyed and the work of the master will be ruined. Yadhi aham – if I thishTaami- stay iha –here samvrthaH- perceptible svena roopeNa- in my natural form upayaasyaami- I will get vinaaSam- destroyed bharthuH arTham- the objective of the master heeyathe – will come to harm 46. thath aham svena roopeNa rajanyaam hrasvathaam gathaH lankaam abhigamishyaami raaghavasya arTha sidDhaye So I will take a smaller form in the night and will search Lanka for fulfilling the task of Rama. thath- so aham-I hrsvathvam gathaH- becoming small svena roopeNa – with that form of mine abhigamishyaami- approach lankaa- Lanka rajanyaaam- in the night arThasidDhaye – for the fulfillment of the objective raaghavasya- of Rama. 47. raavanasya pureem raathrou praviSya sudhuraasadhaam Vicinvan bhavanam sarvam dhrakshyaami janakaathmajaam I will enter the unapproachable city of Ravana in the night and will search all houses and see Seetha. praviSya- entering pureem- the city raavaNasya- of Ravana sudhuraasadham- which is difficult to enter raathrou- in the night vicinvan – searching sarvam bhavanam- all houses dhrkshyaami- I shall see janakaathmajaam- seethe the daughterof Janaka. 48. ithi sanchithya hanumaaan sooryasya asthamayam kapiH aachakaankshe thadhaa veeraH vaidhehyaaH dharsanothsukaH Then Hanuman, the valiant monkey, thinking thus, awaited the sunset eager to see Seetha. thadhaa- then veeraH kapiH- the valiant monkey hanumaan- Hanuman aachakaankshe- awaited asthamayam- the setting sooryasya- of the Sun. dharsanothsukaH- eager to have the sight vaidhehyaaH- of Seetha 49 sooryam cha astha gathe raathrou dheham samkshipya maaruthiH vrshadhamsaka maathraH san babhoova adhbhutha dharsanaH At the Sun set in the night Hanuman contracting his body and becoming the size of a cat, looked wonderful. raathrou- in the night sooryam cha asthe gathe- when the sun has set maaruthih- Hanuman samkshipya –contracting dheham- his body vrshadhamSa maathrakaH san- becoming the size of a cat babhoova – was adhbutha dharSanaH- wonderful to look at. 50. pradhosha kale hanumaan thoorNam uthpluthya veeryavaan praviveSa pureem ramyaam suvibhaktha mahaa paThaam The valiant Hanuman speedily flew in the evening and entered the city of Lanka which was beautiful and well divided pathways, veeryavaan- the valiant hanuman- Hanuman pradhoshakale – at dusk uthpluthya- flying up thoorNam- fast pravivesa- entered ramyaam pureem- the beautiful city of Lanka suvibhaktha mahaapaThaaam- with well divided pathways.
