Today is the thiru-avatAra-tirunAL of 38th pattam Srinivaasa satakOpa

yatIndra mahAdESikan (ThirukkuTanthai azhagiyasingar)

1. HH hails from a paramparai, which has given 4 azhagiyasingars prior

to Him. (azhagiyasingars of 25th pattam, 26th pattam, 27th pattam & 30th

pattam. - details on 30th pattam HH were shared in this list on His TN day,

margazhi-visAkam)

 

2. Under His nirvAham, SrI Ahobila Mutt rose to become the centre of

influence and revered seat of learning again. (Then british governer helped

in preparing the list of srimatam sishyas and conducting an election at the

request of Srimatam sishyas, as there was a gap of 5-1/2 years without a HH

in AsthAnam after the 37th pattam azhagiyasingar. Gadhadarapuram

Srivatsangam chakravarthi SrI Venkatacharya swami was elected, whom we know

as thirukkutanthai azhagiyasingar. The village, Gadhadarapuram is near

thirukkutanthai)

 

3. A northern devotee by name SrI Balamukundacharya became His disciple

and with his influence, Uttara Ahobila Mutt was established at Pushkaram.

 

4. HH renovated a number of Mutt buildings and Brindhavanams.

 

5. Kadandethi Andavan was initiated into Sanyasa Ashram by this

Azhagiyasingar. He was the 6th pattam Andavan of periyASramam.
