My Master! EmperumaanE! I (have committed so many sins and) have taken numerous births! And in this birth, due to Your Grace, You have intervened on my way and I have come here to pay my obeisance to You, with a craving to see You. adiyEn has reached You in order not to take any more birth. Please save me and take me over to You as Your eternal servant. The Eternal Jeevatma or Chetana - The body undergoes changes in form and size right from birth through childhood, adolescence, youth, old age and till death. The body grows, takes ill, gets well and is subject to so many changes whereas the soul remains constant and changeless. The soul or Jeevatma is eternal. Sastras say, that souls are infinite in number, atomic in size, blissful in nature. The souls are indestructible, eternal, unchanging, immovable, indefinable, unseen and omnipotent. Though infinite, the souls of all living beings are similar and do not differ from one another. As for size, they are so tiny that they cannot be seen, cannot be cut any further, cannot be burnt by fire, cannot be drenched by water and cannot be thrown about by wind. says Lord Krishna .. nainam chintanti sustrani nainam dahati pavakaha Nachainam kledayanty apo na soshayati bharatha. [bhagavadh Gita- 2.23] By death is meant only the parting of the soul from the present body - on its future journey. Just like we change over to new clothes discarding the old worn out ones, the soul sheds the old body and assumes new ones. Jeevan thus takeas various births- AzhwAr addresses: He has taken very mnay births. And now he has been interfered rightly by the Lord- idaruRRanan emperumAn..in this birth that he [AzhwAr] has taken. The Lord coniders even unintended action as the puNya- like chasing the dog thereby circumbulating the temple [performing pradhakshiNam] or letting the Bhaagwathas sit in his house verandah [which he had actually built for playing cards]. Thus these puNyas [due to the Lords mercy and parama krupai are considered for the jeevan and He places the jeevan in s good birth. He [the Lord] ensures that the jeevan is given opportunity to have Bhagaawatha sathsangam for getting to know the Truth. Unnai kaaNbathO Asiayinaal – should not be mixed with nORRaen pal piRavi. T have taken many briths with a desire to see You. That is not right. IU have taken many births- and wasted my lives. Now since You have intervened due to some pUnya [good deed of mine] that You had considered due to Your own krupai- I have taken this birth with a desire to see You and have come here. aRRaen vandhadaindhaen- Immediately, then and there I have come here. Sri Periya Vacchaan PiLLai comments that with the blood stained sword, [see last verse- konRaen palluyirai] I have come here and Please save me and take me over to You as Your eternal servant.
