Surge in Influx of Bhaktas – Rs 50 Crores for New Ahobilam Township Chennai,

July 7, 2008

Ahobilam (situated in AndraPradesh, Curnool district) is located in a pristine

natural environment surrounded by dense forests, rivers, and waterfalls.

Ahobilam – the place where MahaVishnu incarnated as Narasimhan – is an important

holy place amongst the 108 divya desams.

Sri Azhagiyasingar, the 45th descendent in the lineage of Sri Ahobila Mutt,

remains a dharmakarthA (an administrator / manager) to preserve and sustain the

tradition of temples through generations.

Since HH came to this post in 1991, he has been operating with great care and

dedication for the growth of Ahobilam and creating convenient facilities for

bhaktas.

In 1998, during the occasion of Ahobila Mutt’s 6th centenary celebrations, HH

made arrangements for construction of a guest house for visiting bhaktas, and a

community hall with drinking water facilities, kitchen and a sannidhi. HH also

made arrangements to renovate the temples in upper Ahobilam and to conduct

Nithya Aradhanam as specified in Agamas. At the same time, several environmental

preservation steps were also taken and this place was converted into a tourist

place as well. Due to these efforts, the number of tourists visiting this place

as increased several fold.

As of now, to protect the surroundings and to develop convenient facilities

for bhaktas, Sri Azhagiyasingar has thought of creating a new township near

Ahobilam. In order to implement this plan, a 100 acre land has been allotted by

Allagadda (10 km from lower Ahobilam) government officials. Here, a new township

called Nava Ahobilam (9 Ahobilams) is being created at present.

Sri Azhagiyasingar mentioned the following regarding the Nava Ahobilam:

Ahobilam is supreme among the 108 divya desams. Bhaktas that visit this

place get blessed by nine Narasimhas and experience blissful soul.

Since the number of bhaktas visiting this place is continuously increasing

every day, the surroundings and the beauty of this place should be protected

from wear and tear. In this new township that is being formed, 12 acres land has

been allotted to Ahobila Mutt.

In this place, the following are being constructed:

Sri Azhagiyasingar’s Ashramam for Rs 30 Lakhs

Prayer Hall for Rs 1.5 Crores

20 Cottages for Rs 3 Crores

Common Guest House for Rs 75 Lakhs

Restaurants service division for 30 Lakhs

In this place the following conveniences are also currently being created:

wide roads, parks, rain water harvesting tank, drinking water, and a septic

tank.

This township is being planned to be created using a total of Rs 50 Crores.

This township is being built by financial assistance from bhaktas and

philanthrophists.

Thus said Sri Azhagiyasingar.

More over, the coming July18th, Friday, Chaturmasya sankalpa viradam is being

observed in the Mutt in Ahobilam. From then till Sept 15th, Sri Azhagiyasingar

will perfom special Aradhanams.
