Thanks Sri Balaji Swamin for blessing this seelamillA siRiyOn to be part of this wondreful likthitha kaimkaryam. Regards Namo Narayana dAsan Swamy Deshikan Thiruvadigale Sharanam !!! Dear Bhagavathas, Sriman Shathakopa thathacharya swamy of Kanchipuram has released a VCD of Swamy Thuppul Deshikan's Thirunakshatram celebrations. Sriman Shatakopa Thathacharya is the trustee of Thooppul Vedantha Desikar Charitable Trust. With regards to the procurement of this VCD by bhagavathas, Sriman Shathakopa thathacharya has forwarded the following appeal. (All translation errors are adiyen's). ================================================================================\ ======= - From Sriman Shathakopa thathacharya - Continued ... While on pursuit of a befitting place to perform penance and having found the kshetram of Satyavrata, Swamy Deshikan beholds the Lord in the sanctum sanctorum as per the maxim " Atmaikyam devataikyam " . Adorning the role of a disciple in the second act of the play Sankalpa suryodayam, Swamy recieves from the Lord of lords, an embellishment in gold and diamonds for having established the darshanam irrefutably. In the guise of Vivekan, Swamy, being a " shreyomArge pratibharajita " accepts the shower of flowers (pushpa vrushti). Again pursuing for a befitting place to perform penance, Swamy Deshikan offers his obeisances to Nammazhwar born in Kurugur with the words " SArassArasvatAnAM " . Having performed mangalashasanam this way, Swamy adorns the pushpa pallakku again and sees himself through the mAda streets of Perumal koil before returning to his abode at Thuppul. This certainly is the scene that moves everyone to tears. In the play there are other iniquitous characters also, like pride, jealousy, anger etc. But since our Swamy is bereft of all these virtues, it is not possible for him to enact in those guises. Everyone should indeed derive great pleasure by seeing this utsavam which is nothing but Swamy enacting his own play. It is our request that everyone comes to witness this wonderful event in person. It takes a year to watch this spectacle live. But now with this media it is possible for us to watch this event everyday. The proceeds of this CD will go to the nityaradhana kainkaryam of our Swamy at Thuppul. In the first panchadi of Krishna Yajurvedam, it is said " devovassavitA prArpayatu shreShThatamAyakarmaNe " . In the third ashtakam which is the Brahmana bhagam of this, it is said " yajno hi shreShThatamam karma " - Yajnam is indeed the superlative of deeds. The expositors of this passage have stated that there is no fruit that may not be obtained by the performance of a Yajnam - " sarvakAmasiddhihetutvAt " . Yajnam means a yaagam. Its derivation comes from " yaja deva pUjAyAM " . The purport of this word is to perform aradhanam to the Lord. It is therefore of superlative in nature and is capable of bestowing all fruits of desire. We are fortunate enough to have been doing such a superlative service as Bhagavadaradhanam, with the support of this trust. The Vedas proclaim " yajnasya kAmya: priya: " . This is exposited in the commentary as " yajno hi svAnuShThAnAya mAM kAmayate " - The Yajnam likes the one who performs it. Here the yagam of performing nityaradhanam to Sri Vilakkoli Perumal likes us to be its performers. Our support for such kainkaryams may not be needed at all temples that are very well off. It is therefore our prayer to bhagavathas to support and participate in the nityaradhanam of Deepaprakasha Perumal and to be the recipients of the Yajnam's choicest blessings. Two types of kainkaryams have been prescribed for Jaavas. " AjnA kainkaryam " - Sandhyavandanam, Thiruvaradhanam, Tarpanam etc. These have to be performed. A lapse on this part would mean to incur sin. The second type is " anujnA kainkaryam " - These include visiting holy places, supporting the renovations, supporting the daily supply of sacristies like oil, ghee, nivedanam, flowers and others. These may be done based on one's capacity. A lapse on these performances will not be incuring any sin. Swamy Deshikan has lucidly elaborated this in his Nyasa Vimshati - " AjnAkainkarya vRittiShu ... yAvadiShTaM pravRtta: " and also " akaraNe pratyavAya rahitaM anujnA kainkaryam " - It is of no sin if anujnA kainkaryams are not performed. At the same time the AjnA kainkaryams like nityArAdhanam and others have been ordained in the Agamas, and so they have to be performed. It is therefore our bounden duty to perform the nityaradhanam of Vilakkoli Perumal. Once again, we request your participation and support in this once in a lifetime kainkaryam of supporting the Nityaradhanam of Maragathavalli Nayika sametha Deepraprakasha Perumal and Swamy Deshikan at the thiruththalam of Thuppul divyadesham. ================================================================================\ ======= Please avail this rare opportunity. Bhagavathas making a contribution of more than Rs 300/- towards Swamy Deshikan Nityaradhanam Kainkaryam will be given this CD as a pArithoshakam (present) and Swamy's anugraham.
