Dear Swamy Desika BhakthAs:

 

On November 13 , 2003 , the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of

the greatest Sholars/AchAryAs and authorities of Swamy Desikan's

and AchArya RaamAnujA SrI Sookthis will be celebrated at Kaanchipuram .

This great AchArya of blessed memory was born in Thirupputkkuzhi

dhivya dEsam .He belonged to the Taata Desika Vamsam.

 

Dr.SaTakOpa TatachAr Swamy , who has devoted his life to

NithyArAdhana Kaimakryam at ThUppul Swamy Desikan and

Lord DhIpa PrakAsan Sannidhis is taking the initiative to have

Veda PaarAyaNam for four days, Sadas and TadhIyAradhanam to

celebrate the blessed memory of this great AchArya , who

devoted His life to the advancement Bhagavath RaamAnuja Darsanam

in general and Swamy Desikan's contributions in particular to

this Darsanam .

 

Thirupputkkuzhi Swamy took control of Swamy Desikan's sannidhi

at Thuppul and restored it back to its former glory after an unfortunate

period of confusion there. His vamsatthAr are carrying on that important

work all the way down to today .

 

The traditions behind the MangaLaasAsanam of

Swamy Desikan at Lord VaradarAjan's temple that

I wrote about last year and this year is linked

with this MahAn . This year on October 5 (PurattAsi

SravaNam day ) , that celebrated MangaLAsAsanam

took place and the SrI Sookthis of Swamy Desikan

selected by HIM for recitation at the appropriate

Sannidhis and on top of Hasthi Giri were recited .

 

Thirupputtkkuzhi ( Thirupuukkuzhi) is the dhivya dEsam with

SrI Maragathavalli SamEtha SrI Vijayya Raghavan presiding over

as the dhivya dampathis . They reside on the banks of

JaDAyu PushkaraNi .AchArya RaamAnuja studied under

Yaadhava PrakAsar here ; later YahdavprakAsar became

the sishya of AchArya RaamAnujA. Swamy Desikan's ParamArTa Sthuthi

saluting Lord Vijaya Raghavan as " RaNa Pungavan , Aahava Pungavan

was born here .SudarsanAshtakam of Swamy Desikan also took its

origin here . Thirumangai's two Paasurams perform MangaLAsAsanam

for the dhivya Dampathis here . Sudarsana Soori , the student of

NadAthUr AmmAL and the author of Srutha PrakAsika is said to have

resided at Thiruppukkuzhi. All amAvAsyais in general and Adi AmAvasyais

in particular are celebrated grandly here .There is a separate sannidhi

for JadAyu here. The maNDapam where Yaadhava PrakAsar and

AchArya RaamAnujA had VedAntha VichAram is near the ANDAL

Sannidhi in the South West corner of the temple. This KshEthram is

few kilometers from Kaanchi VaradarAjar Temple.
