Guest guest Posted December 20, 2009 Report Share Posted December 20, 2009 SrI: Dear aastikaas, Posting herewith the commentaries on pAyirams 11 and 12 of deSika nURRandAdi by SrI V Sadagopan Mama towards the makarkaNDi kaimkaryam for tUppul Swami Vedanta deSikan. dAsan -------------------------- SrI: Paayiram 11 : Paran NaaraNan avan paadhatthiRkku Aatcheyhai uram ivvuyirkadkku yenRu OrAr--siramatthait- theerkkave VedAntaDesikanAi vantu udhitthu maargam idhu yenRu uraitthAn Maal OhrAr siramatthai theerkkavE = for eliminating the sufferings of the people of the universe ignorant about the three tattvams Maal VedAnta DesikanAi vanthu udhitthu= Sriman NarayaNan incarnated as VedAntha Desikan and instructed the jeevans suffering inSamsAram , NarayaNan paran , avan paadhatthiRkku aatseykai ivvyuirkatkku uram yenRu= ( Swamy Desikan instructed ) that Sriman NaarAyaNan is the Para Brahmam ( Supreme Most among the DevatAs) and performing Kaimkaryam at His sacred feet is most beneficial and auspicious act for the souls in bondage ( Bhaddha Jeevans) and to follow it up with the performance of SaraNAgathi . ( SaraNAgathy seyvatuvE ) mArgam yenRum uraitthAn = Swamy Desikan pointed out that the perforamce of Prapatti at the Lord's sacred feet is the most efficient method to gain Moksha Sukham . Comments : Here , the poet ( Mannappa IyengAr) states that the Lord of ThiruvEnkatam itself incarnated as VedAntha Desikan. In Vibhaava avatAram , the Lord incarnated as GeethAchAryan and instructed Arjuna : " Please focus your mind on me alone; please express devotion to Me. Worship Me alone; Prostrate before Me ; after that , you will attain Me --Gethai: 9.34 " . GeehtAchAryan performed additional upadEsam thru His charama SlOkam ( 18.66) to perform SaraNAgathy to Him alone and not to grieve thereafter (Sarva dharmAn parityajya , Maam YEkam SaraNam vraja). Inspite of all these UpadEsams using Arjunaa as a VyAjam (excuse) , Jeevans bound in samsAram did not take advantage. GeethAchAryan reflected further on how to uplift the sufferign Jeevans from the samsaric mire . He decided to incarnate in the archaa form as Thiru-VenkatamudayAn and when that upAyam did not yield full results , our Lord reincarnated as Swamy Desikan at ThUppul as JagadAchAryan in human form and created Srimath Rahasya traya Saaram to describe lucidly the three tattvams for the benefit of all ; Swamy Desikan constructed many granthams ( NikshEpa Rakshai , ChillaRai rahasyams, NyAya SiddhAnjanam , Tattva MuktA KalApam et al) ) to reveal that SaraNAgathy at Sriman NarayaNan's sacred feet is the unfailing method to break the cycles of repeated births in SamsAram . He established that SaraNAgathy maargam is the easy to practise and the yielder of quick results . It is for helping the suffering Jeevans that the Lord appeared on this earth as Swamy Desikan . Paayiram 12 : MaalAi adiyavar paal maanilattil vantu udhitta naal Vedah meyp-poruLAm Naarananum -saala aruL seyta VedAnta AariyarOdu ovvAn iruL anaitthum yeengu ahaRRiyE In this Paayiram , the author takes the position that AchAryan is far superior to the Lord , when it comes to showing compassion to the suffering jeevans . adiyavar paal maalAy maanilattil vantu uditta naal Vedha meyporuLAm NaaraNaan= Out of His affection and love for His devotees , the Supreme One defined clearly by all the Four VedhAs incarnated on this earth as Raaman and KrishNan ( in Vibhava avatArams). NaaraNanum yeengu iruL anaitthum ahaRRi saala aruL seytha VedAntha AariyarOdu ovvAn = Even that NaarAyaNan celebrated by the VedhAs can not equal Swamy Desikan , when it comes to removing fully the darkness of ajn~Anam of the suffering jeevans and blessing them to reach sadhgati . Swamy Desikan has catalogued n his UpakAra sangraham the many upakArams done by the Lord to help the jeevans sinking in the samsAric mire. The four VedAs broadcast that the Lord , Sriman Narayanan , is the Supreme Being .. Brahma Sootram ( yEtEna SarvE vyAkhyAtA: vyAkhyAtA: --Brahma Sutram 1-4-29 ) refers to the Jagath KaaraNatvam of the Lord (Iswaran) and His distinctly different nature compared to the two other tattvams(sentients and the insentients).This all knowing and all powerful Brahman is recognized as the uncontested cause of this world of sentients and insentients. This sarva Saktan , SarvAdhAran incarnated in Kali Yugam as Swamy Desikan . The question arises as to what Swamy Desikan did during his stay on this earth .He composed and blessed us with hundreds of books to reveal the doctrines of Tattvam , hitam and PurushArtham . Swamy Desikan taught us that Tattvam is the Lord with His inseperable PirAtti kanown as Para Brahmam and that Sriman Narayanan is the indweller of all jeeva rASis.The sentient jeevans and the insentients serve as His body (sareeram). Swamy instructed us that hitam consists of the two routes ( means , mArgams) : Bhakti yOgam and Prapatti . He revealed that Prapatti margam is simpler and can be practised by one and all. He pointed out that PurushArtham ( the goal of Life ) is four fold : Dharamam , arTham , Kaamam and Moksham and among these four , Moksham is the loftiest goal to be sought by us.After gaining Moksham , the liberated jeevan reaches Sri VaikunTham andengages in eternal service to the Lord and enjoys the supreme bliss. Swamy Desikan composed many SrI Sooktis for our benefit and removed our ajn~anam ( ignorance) and doubts and blessed us with true Jn~Anam about Tattva-Hita-PurushArtam. In providing such upakArams , Mannappa IyengAr states that Swamy Desikan exceeds the apAra KaaruNyam of the Lord Himself in helping the suffering jeevans ..
