Dear Sobha ji,There is an interesting legend behind the Nagabharana's as an adornment to Lord Venkateswara's Mulavirat. A Gajapati King by name Veera Narasimha Deva has laid down the foundation stone for the present Mahadwaram. Once when he was on a pilgrimage to Rameshwaram, in the middle of his tour, stopped at Tirumala for Darsan. He had the darsan of Lord Venkateswara and was very happy about it. He thought of doing some Kainkaryam to Lord Srinivasa and consulted the Archakas there, as per their advice started building the present Mahadwara Rajagopuram, by recruiting the workers and arranging the Funds. In the meantime, he went to Rameswaram and returned back to Tirumala and he himself supervising the work of Mahadwara Kainkaryam. One night in his dream, AdiSesha appeared and said that, "Oh King Veera Narasimha, the Mahadwara Rajagopuram that you are building is causing more weight for me to bear. This inconvenience can be sorted out only by the Lord of Seshadri Hills, Lord Srinivasa, but not by anyother and saying like this the Adi Sesha went inside Garbhagriham and tied to the left hand of Srinivasa Mulavirat". Dreamt like this the Veera Narasimha Deva thought that he has done apacharam to Adisesha and he stopped the Mahadwara work immediately and made a Gold Nagabharana in remembrance of his divine dream and presented it to the Archakas and asked them to tie it to the Mulavirat's left hand shoulder. Thereafter Lord became 'Pannaga Bhushana'. Later on Bhagavad Ramanuja, prompted by the Vaikhanasa Archakas, has made another Nagabharana and presented it for the right hand of Srinivasa Perumal. So we can assume from this legend that it was Adisesha tied to the shoulders of Lord Venkateswara. This incompleted Mahadwaram by Veera Narasimha Deva, was later completed by Srikrishna Deva Raya.Where as the one we find as a Vaddanam or 'nAgAbharaNa vaDDANam' as it is popularly called, which is adorned as a waist belt, has no special significance. The jewelery worn by Lord VenkatEsa over His elbows

is known as NaagAbharaNam . It does not have the same

significance of Garudan wearing specific Mahaa Sarpams

on His upper body ( Ears, YajnOpaveedahm etc) .

 

There is no specific sigificance that I know off .

I have copied one of the PradhAna Bhattar of

Lord VenkatEsa so that he can shed some additional

light .

Respected Sir,Namo Narayanaya,I am interested in knowing the classified names of snakes worn by Bhagwan Sri Venkateswara on his hands above elbows, on the handle of the surya kataari sword and at other points on Lord's body.
