Guest guest
Dear All: Adiyen is managing this list and as you all know its unmoderated. Unfortunately, spammers have found new ways to send out emails to groups by using email ids from current postings. Luckily, strips out attachments and that will atleast help in not spreading viruses around. There are a few lists that are moderated, but due to the number of mails that go through the list, it would be challenging for someone to be a gatekeeper on a day-to-day basis. Please send me an email if you have any thoughts around preventing such spams. Thanks Srikanth.
Guest guest
Sri: Dear Srikanth : I agree with you about the diffiuclties in management of lists in unmoderated fashion . I do not see any substitute for introducing moderation . I get a lot of mail daily for Oppiliappan , SaraNAgathy and Raama Bhakthi lists . I serve as a gate keeper/moderator to remove any offensive mails on a day to day basis . I will be more than happy to serve as the Moderator for Malolan e-lists , when it is transformed into a moderated list . If another Member wishes to do take this responsibility , it is fine too ! Guest guest
Dear Swamin: Moderation is the only possible way to get out of this problem. As you and others pointed out it, it is a mammoth task. Adieyn being a moderator and owner for few manage the groups by creating co-moderators - they can be as many as the owner like to have. All these moderators will be responsible for permitting any posting to get published. All that adiyen now says is to create few moderators - explain them their role and purpose - permit them ONLY to remove the virus and inappropriate messages. With the collective effort of the all moderators each these inappropriate emails can be kept at bay. However these co-moderators should not approve/disapprove the appropriate emails for their content, if they feel they are not capable of and should be let to a knowledgeable person in the sampradhayam to handle it... Adiyen will be delighted to serve as a co-moderator deleting/disapproving ONLY the virus and spam emails sent to any religious e-groups, there by doing a small kainkariyam to my Lord.
