Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas, Here is a beautiful video clip from MadhurAntakam — tirumanjanam of the divya dampatigaL. I have spliced a moving rendition of a bhadrAchala rAmadAsu krithi by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt. Mani Krishnaswamy. At 00:09 (0 min 9 sec into the video), when you hear the viLicchol, ‘rAmA’ (as in inavamshOttama rAma) and at the same time, you are blessed with His kAruNyam-laden mandahAsam/muRuval, you wonder: aDiyAr kuzhAm kanDa kaLippO? Or bhakthaiyin iniya isai kEtkum inbamO? Or both? The hallmark of our sampradAyam is the amazingly unique and mesmerizing anubhavam it provides us — the ultimate in aesthetics is intricately woven into the practices/observances in our sampradAyam – it is not an exaggeration to say that it is the epitome of the pinnacle of aesthetics. At 01:01, you see a subtle but an amazing example of the pinnacle of aesthetics — during tirumanjanam, you usually see tiruccAmaram/chowrie and tiru ottu ADai (tiru pariyaTTam) being warmed up in the fragrant and warm dhUpam/agiRpugai before being offered to Him. Here, during 01:01-01:08, you see the chandana kAppu being ever-so-gently warmed up (on a tAmbALam) over fragrant dhUpam and the archaka swAmi also warms his hands ever so gently before offering the chandana kAppu to Him on His vakshastalam under Sri Lakshmi hAram. What a beautiful anubhavam! At 02:55, His tirumEni is covered with honey and at first, looks sweet because of honey. As you look further, you realize that it is His soundaryam that is impregnating the sweetness into kEvala/mere honey! vAri paruga tOnRuginRadu! The video concludes in the most fitting manner with His tirumEni under sahasra dhArai (at 4:12), and Her tirumEni under sahasra dhArai (at 4:22) – all these coupled with Smt.M.S’s mangaLa slOkam! The link is: Enjoy! aDiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan
