Guest guest
SrI: Dear Srivaishnavas, Today I was reading a magazine wherein one singapore chinese was asking whether it was better for him to attend any Meditation programe to reduce his stresses.. To my surprise, the person who answered this question, is another Chinese person (a doctor here), who liberally used many terms in English with their equivalent terms inside brackets, such as: Posture (asana) Breathing exercise (Pranayama) Yoga ... (This does not have any English equivalent, it seems) Meditation (dhyana) Chanting..(japa) vegan (strict vegetarianism without egg, onion and garlic) and asked the questioner to practice one or all of them cautiously after understanding the underlying phylosophy (whether the phylosophies go well with the questioner's own beliefs) In recent days, these terms have become very popular and are benefitting many people (I mean the teachers who start classes on these subjects are benefitted thoroughly and am not sure about those people who are taught .....) They all mix these terms with some or other form of material benefit... and only that..! But we have only a single term which replaces all the above terms (including the water purification ritual of Jews, which they proudly claim based on scientific facts)... That single term 'sandhyavandana', is not any more popular with the tri-varnika people :-( (Probably they might be thinking what immediate benefits they get by making the Lord happy three times a day...?) And for aDiyEn, one need not go into the details of the benefits which this single practice can bestow on human race..... It is ordained... we have to do... That's all ! dAsan
