Guest guest
SrI: Dear SrIvaishnavas, After a long sancharam to northern parts of bhAratam, 4th pattam azhagiyasingar came to singarkOil agraharam (a place mentioned in some purANams). While thinking on a suitable successor, He went for yOganidrA. mAlOlan appeared in swapnam and told azhagiyasingar that the successor was on the way. Similarly, SrIlakshmInrusimhan appeared in the swapnam of one swami of KandalUr and instructed him to go to Srisannidhi. Azhagiyasingar was very happy to see the swami the next day and immediately gave him prEShamantram and sanyasam. That swami was known as 'sarwatantra swatantrar' as all SAstrAs obeyed his orders! (iTTa vazhakkAi ..). 5th pattam sarwatantra swatantra SrISaThakOpa yatIndra mahAdESikan appeared in thirumangai mannan's thirunakshatram in AtrEyagOtram. Accepting Asthanam, HH proceeded for northern parts. After 6 years of Asthana nirvAham, He left for paramapadam on the bank of Krishna river. He is hailed as 'paravAdi gajAnkuSam'. (Goad of the 'vAdi' elephants) Until this azhagiyasingar's time (CE 1499) there seemed to be no kalAbhEdam between Srivaishnavas. All were 'vidwath-paksha-pAdis' ('scholars-oriented' and not 'kalai-oriented') until His time.
