Thousands of devotees had assembled at Melkote to be part of this spectacular event. From as early as 3pm everyone tried to sit in some vantage position to have a glimpse of the lord. Vairamudi was brought from the Mandya treasurey with all the honour around 6.30 pm. People from all walks of life, babies,kids and elderly people were just waiting outside the temple. It was about 9.30pm chellapiLLai adorned in the exquisite diamond crown, in all His majesty came out of the temple to bless his devotees amidst the shouting of the divine name Govinda.
