Dear AasthikAs:

 

 

Now that the Saama UpAkarmaa dinam is approaching , the Saama UpAkarmA

sankalpam and PrayOga are needed .

 

BrahmachAris have specific additional observances :(1) wearing Minji ( woven

dharbha

pull belt =Minji mEkhalai) ,(2) performance of Morning SamidhAdhAnam concluding

with

Agni PrArTanai .

 

For now , let us focus on the rest of the UpAkaramaa for bachelors , GruhasthAs

and

vidhurars .

 

These SEVEN steps include :

 

1. Lengthy Uthsarjana KarmAnga Deva-Rishi-Pithru tarpaNam(264 tarpaNams)

concluding with 12 Pithru tarpaNams .

 

2. UpAkarma Aarambham : Puna: PojA, Homam .

 

3. Yaj~nOpaveetha DharaNam .

 

4. VedAramabham : Sankalpam .

 

5. VedArambha Saaman recitals :Gaayathri Manthram , VyAhrudhi Saamans,

Saama GhAnam with 9 saamans ; Seven Uha SthOthri , Seven rahasya SthOthri .

 

6. Concluding ManthrAs starting from " Mahan mE vOchO bhargO mE vOcha:

and ending up with " Vrushtirasi vrusccha mE pApmAnam ruthAth sathyamupAgAm " .

 

Those who have not undergone Saama VedAdhyayanam would only have to

recite PraNavam .

 

7. Conclusion of VEda UpAkarma after Aachamanam , Saathvika DhyAnam , ThyAgam .

 

adiyen's efforts to record the Rg, Yajur , Saama vEda UpAkarmaas in India

will be commencing today . It wont be completed however before Oct 12 ,

( PurattAsi SravaNam ), the avathAra dinam of Thrayyanthu Guru , Swamy

Desikan .

 

It will be too late for this year's Saama UpAkarma to make ready the DVDs

on UpAkarmaa .

 

with all these factors in mind , adiyEn approached Ahobila Matam North America

for permission to use the detailed write up in Sanskrit and Tamil on Saama

UpAkarma PrayOgam released by Sri Matam during the past SvabhAnu year .

KumbakONam with the participation by an authority on SamskArAs there .

There would be need for support form you to cover the SambhAvanA and

video recording . I will come back on those estimated expenses in a few days.
