Swamy Deshikan Thiruvadigale Sharanam !!!

 

Today at Thuppul, in the evening Swamy Deshika enjoys the Chandra prabha

vAhanam.

 

Let us enjoy the supremacy of Deshika chandrama by comparing him to the

celestial moon.

 

[Verse]

 

Bedecks the moon with charm, the celestial skies and waters so dense

Parroting the Sun's gleam but, assailable yet to the vile and fraudulent

Thy are the erudite moon that knows not to wane, unknown to debacles

Untouched by blemishes, unassailed by the vicious and vile alike, arise

Oh Deshika chandrama! Arise with luster in the waters of my heart

 

The celestial moon decks the vast sky and the oceans with its gait and

beauty. It gives out the gleam of the Sun falling on it but remains

assailable to the advents of the vile rahu and kethu. The moon has lots of

scars on its face and perennially goes through the process of waning and

waxing except on a full moon day. Oh Deshika! You are indeed the erudite

moon complete with knowledge that remains steadfast at all times and never

wanes. You are indeed the master who knows no defeat, who is never touched

by impurity of any sort and is never assailed by influences similar to that

of rahu and kethu. Your beautiful smiling face with cool glances of daya is

so resplendent with Brahma tejas that it never wanes and looks like a full

moon without any scar. It is Nitya pushkalam and definitely looks like the

consummation of the penance of all the three worlds. Oh Deshika chandrama!

Arise with luster in the waters of my heart to free my soul with the

blemishes of my past deeds.

 

In this verse our Swamy is compared to the moon and Bhagavad Ramanuja to the

Sun. It is established here as to how they surpass their celestial

counterparts. Sri Nayanaracharya celebrates the same purport in his

Prarthanashtakam wherein he says -

 

jayati shrutichUDAryaH shrImAnadbhutachaMdramAH |

sakalA yatra hi kalAH nirmalA nityapuShkalAH ||

 

The celestial moon is beautiful indeed and it reflects the gleam of the Sun

falling upon it, decorating the vast skies and the deep oceans. Our Swamy is

similarly the resplendent moon that is reiterating the gleam of the Sun who

is here none other than Bhagavad Ramanuja. With this gleam of knowledge our

Swamy shows with clarity as to what lies in the vast sky of the Vedas and

the deep oceans of Vedantha.

 

The celestial moon though illuminated by the Sun, is assailable yet to the

vicious influences of rahu and kethu. Our Swamy whose mind is illuminated by

Ramanuja has in fact reversed the trend by trouncing on the vile rahu

mimamsa, which is Advaitha and the fraudulent kethu mimamsa, which is

nirishvara poorva mimamsa.

 

Except on a full moon day the moon is ever in the cycle of waning and

waxing. It does not remain steadfast. Our Swamy due to his immense brahma

jnaanam remains steadfast ever and knows not to wane. He remains Nitya

pushkalam. Our Swamy has known not any debacles and is replete with sixty

four kalais while the moon is replete with sixteen kalais alone. The moon

has lots of scars on its face while our Swamy's resplendent face remains

unblemished forever.

 

The clouds in the sky often dim the luster of the moon, sometimes making it

invisible. No cloud of ajnanam can ever stand its presence in front of our

Swamy. His glories shine forth with the luster of a thousand suns. The moon

appears to be gulped in by the waters of the ocean, while our Swamy by just

a scratch of his nail had once cleansed the entire city of Kanchi with pure

water jetting out of a pillar. There is no body of water in this universe

that can drown the greatness of our Swamy.

 

The moon with its power raises the ocean with waves and tides. Our Swamy

with the power of his knowledge raises waves of enlightenment in the hearts

and minds of seekers who approach his feet for their redemption. The realms

lit by the celestial moon with its shine are beautiful indeed but remain so

only while the moon stays. The minds lit by our Deshika remain resplendent

for eternity with no fall in its luster, as this is the luster of knowledge

that is perennial.

 

Oh Deshika chandrama! Arise with this luster in the waters of my heart to

make me see the parrot * next to me.
