Pearls from the poems SS-65 sAnRAi surudigaL * SAkAnta sUtthirangaL * AanRavar Ettum aruLgeetai – mUnRivai * veeRuDan nATTum visiTTAttu vaidamadE * mARan madinalattin mANbu. For any matam to be established, the base should be the prasthAn tryam - the vEdAs, geetA & the brahma sutras. Of the few matams so established, viSishtAdvaitam is the only matam, which the prasthAna trayam perfectly points to. From such pAsurams Of nammAzhvAr as ` uDalmisai uyirena karandengum…….', etc. it is ascertained that only viSishtAdvaitam is the matam of nammAzhvAr. SS-66 mANbuDaiya nammAzhvAr mAlvisuvak sEnanenbar * tUNpuDaittha AlariyO tUyavar – kANbarindu * teeyasura vAdazhittu tiNsirI vaiNavarkkut * tAyinum Ayina seidAr. We know that nammAzhvAr is the amSAvatAram of SrI ViSvaksEnar. However, here, AzhvAr is admired as SrI nrusimha perumAL Himself incarnated. This AaLari perumAL, Who, while having His one eye with a burning look on HiraNyakasipu, had His other eye with more than a mother's tender and affectionate look on SrI PrahlAdA. Similarly, nammAzhvAr - with his excellent SrIsUktis - while putting an end to the matam of mImAmSakAs, takes care of SrIvaishNavAs with more than a mother's endearment. Pearls from the poems: While he is the kulapati of this sampradAyam, nammAzhvAr is also a caressing mother of SrIvaishNavAs. [saTAri Satakam is one of the many classic works of srI. U.vE.
