It may be a question asking as to how one, by participating in this

kainkaryam, may benefit from the fruits of the performance of rituals like

Ayushyahomam and others. In the event of worshipping demigods like Indra and

others, seeking the fruits of wellbeing and longevity, without realising

that they have a body soul relationship with the Lord, the worship is

recieved not by the demigods but by the Lord Himself who is their indweller.

This has been attested to by the statement " yetvanyadevatA bhaktA yajante

shraddhayAnvita: | tepi mAmeva

kaunteya yajantyavidhipUrvakam|| " . Even if one devotes himself to the

demigods with sincerity, they still will be effecting the worship of the

Lord alone. But they would be totally unaware of this fact. But since the

intent is different, the fruits of attainment are also different. Knowing

well that the demigods like Indra and others are the body of the Lord and if

they are worshipped with a desire of obtaining abundance of food and wealth,

then such a desire will come to fruition. Having known thus, if the devotees

seek the Lord Himself directly, then there is no place for even the faintest

of doubts in such a desire coming to fruition. In Bhagavat Geetha, the Lord

quotes many seekers - one who wishes to reclaim his lost wealth, one who

wishes to experience atmanubhavam, one who wishes to be bestowed with new

wealth. As per this, the Lord may be prayed not only for attaining the

supreme fruit moksham, but for attaining the lesser fruits also.

The deeds of performing tadiyaradhanam keeping in mind some fruit may be

attained by performing the nityaradhanam to the Lord. One may participate in

this kainkaryam with fruits of desire in mind. At the same time, one may

also participate in the nityaradhana kainkaryam of the Lord and our acharya

sarvabhoumar, seeking no fruits. But this act will also bestow fruits of

noble deeds on the performer. The pramanam here is the statement from

Vishnudharmam quoted by Swamy Deshika - " sharIrArogya ...

nityamapavargaprado hari: " - the Lord bestows wellbeing even without the

bidding of the seeker. Swamy also quotes Kulashekarazwar's words -

" ninnaiyEthAn vENdi ... chelvampOla " . Even if the Lord Himself is sought

alone without the desire for any other attainments, wellbeing also comes in

naturally.

Devotees may therefore participate in this nityaradhana kainkaryam without

seeking any fruits thereof or even with a specific desire in mind and be

recipient of the benevolence of the Lord.

To be contd ...
