Dearest all,

Let us continue to enjoy Thirumangai AzhwAr’s Periya

Thirumozhi. Today’s verse is Periya Thourmizh 1.8.9.

kalayaami kalidhvamsam kavim lOkadhivaakaram

yaSya kObi: prakaaSaabir aavidhyam niHatham thama:

I meditate on the Poet, who is like the Sun for the

whole world, to destroy the darkness of ignorance

(a~jnAnam) with his word and who destroys the Kali

dhOsham.

Emperumaan- The One who protects and saves from their

Birth cycles, those who utter Parama bhOgya, most

Divine Thiru ashtaakshara manthram always- stays at

ThiruvEmkatam which is fully surrounded by the lovely

gardens full of most fragrant flowers, which is

standing like the Thilakam (pinnacle- Zenith- the

Highest point) of all worlds. Oh mind! Reach here!

(here AzhwAr says in the first line " pEsumin

Thirunaamam ettezhutthum solli " -means: Utter!

(pEsumin) the most divine Ashtaaksharam; it is also to

be read as " pEsum in Thirunaamam " means:

Utter (pEsum) the sweetest to the tongues of those who

utter (in) Thirunaamam ettezhutthum (ashtaaksharam).

Thiru ashtaakshara mantra is the essence of all

mantras.

HaritAsmruti (3.65) declares " Whatever a man ought to

know is all contained in ashtAksharA, that is the

VedAs viz. Rg, Yajur, sAmam & the atharvan and

other collection of words " .The meaning(s) {whether

considered as one sentence, two or three etc etc }

that arise out of ashtAksharam is the final essence

of all vedAs. All the tattvA, hitA & purushArtA is

made crystal clear by it. One will remain in peace &

with ecstasy be performing the kainkaryams to the

Divya Dampati, since all the ignorance, confusions

etc arising out of studying the views of various

philosophers[vedic /non-vedic) on one’s own accord &

building castles of ignorant speculations being

wiped off by the esoteric meaning(s)of

ashtAksharam - the nectar (amrutam) of knowledge

churned from the sea of upanishads. That’s why

sAstrAs glorify ashtAksharam to such a extent.

The meanings of ashtAksharam once understood will

yield the faultless jn~Anam. The true knowledge with

no doubts whatsoever, with unshakable faith & with

ample clarity on UpAyA (means) & Upeyam (goal to be

attained) will surely evolve out after understanding

the divine meanings of ashtAksharam. [from Sri Anand

Karalapakkam Swami’s article]

Such Omnipotent Lord Paramapadha nAthan is here at

ThiruvEntakam. Oh Mind Reach there-says AzhwAr.
