I have been born in all bodies (in various births), died very many times, and not performed any good deed at all in any of my previous births (otherwise I would not have been suffering here in this samsaaram!); I have been under lots and lots of sufferings and sorrows; and now adiyEn has reached You here and held You as the only refuge. Please save me and take me over to You as Your eternal servant. Similar is echoed in NammAzhwAr PAsuram: maaRi maaRip pala piRappum piRandhu adiyai adaindhu uLLam thERi/ eeru il inbatthu iru veLLam yaan mmozhginEn/ paaRip paaRi asurar tham pal kuzhAngaL neeRu ezha paai paRavai onRu/ yERi veeRRiRundhAi unnai ennuL neekkEl enthAi/(2.6.8) " From one to another, I have been undergoing various births; and finally I have attained Your feet and my mind has become crystal clear; I am fully floodded with Great Blissful ocean of Happiness; You jumped immediately, boarded and sat on GarudA and killed the groups and groups of asurAs; My pithA! Please do NOT separate Yourself from my mind. " Punarappi Maranam Punarappi Jananam " the cycle of life and death continues. The jeevatma does papam or punyam in this world and undergoes the svarga vaasam or Naraga vaasam and then comes back to the world with the vaasanas of the previous birth. Vedantha also says " GathA Gatham Kaama kaamA labhanthe. Thus the jeevatmas do punyam or papam in this world, both of which will ultimately bring them back to this world only. All this is mentioned by commentators for us to increase our Vairakhyam [detachment]. Only when we get little detached from this world we can think about the other world (Bhagavaan and Bhagavat vishayam).
