Tomorrow Adi punarvasu marks the 120th thirunakshatram of Srimath Abhinava

Ranganatha Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Yatindra Maha Deshikan. Swamy

adorned the peetam as the 33rd acharya of the illustrious Parakala Matam

established by Sri Brahmatantra-Swatantra Parakaala Maha Deshikan under the

direct command of Swamy Deshikan.

 

Swamy studied the scriptures from Sri Krishna Brahmatantra Swatantra

Parakala Maha Deshikan and also obtained the sacraments of samAshrayaNam

from Him. He performed prapatti at the feet of Sri Varadaramanuja Maha

Deshikan (popularly known as Denkanikottai Swamy) and obtained initiation

into the monastic order from Sri Vageesha Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala

Maha Deshikan.

 

Swamy adorned the peetam for many decades and was one of the greatest

acharyas of Ramanuja sampradayam. He had innumerable disciples who studied

at his feet. They include the 34th, 35th and the present 36th pattam

acharyas of Parakala Matam. It also includes Srimath Paravakkottai

Poundarikapuram Srimath Andavan Srimath Gopala Deshika Maha Deshikan, the

present acharya of Srimath Poundarikapuram Andavan Ashramam.

 

Swamy's depth in terms of Vedanta was immense. He was adored by one and all

for his erudition and vairaagyam. His strength of detachment was phenomenal.

He was responsible for the all-round development of many institutions and

establishments of Sri Brahmatantra-Swatantra Parakaala Matham. He has

published many books of Poorvaachaaryas and has authored many of his own.

Some examples of his compositions include - Goodhartha prakasha: a great

work on SriBhashyam, his three volumed commentary on Swamy Deshikan's

Tattvamuktakalapa and many more. He was absolutely uncompromising when it

came to anushtaanam and observances as per shastram.

 

Sriman KotikannikAdAnam Krishna Thathacharya has composed a wonderful work

on this great acharya titled " Navyarangastuti " . A commentary to this work

composed by U. Ve Venkatanathacharya, Srikaryam of Parakala Matham, was

released recently to mark Swamy Deshikan's thirunakshatram and the centenary

of Sri Krishna Thathacharya.

 

Srimath Abhinava Ranganatha Swamy's 120th Thirunakshatram will be celebrated

in a befitting manner at Mysore tomorrow. Srimath Abhinava Vageesha

Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Maha Deshikan, the presiding acharya has so

far celebrated 11 mAsa thirunakshatrams of this acharya (monthly

thirunakshatram) at various divya deshams. The final one will be celebrated

tomorrow.

 

His taniyan is as follows

vairAgyAchAravArdhau varadapadamukhe lakshmaNe nyasta bhAram

shrIvAgIshAththaturyam ShaTaripuyatirADvedachUDArya mUrthim

" I seek refuge at the holy feet of Srimath Abhinava Ranganatha, who obtained

the sacraments of samashrayanam from Sri Krishna Brahmatantra-Swatantrar,

performed prapatti at the feet of Varada

Lakshmana, who was like an ocean of Vairagya and Acharam and obtained

initiation into the fourth order of Sanyasam from Srimath Vagisha

Brahmatantra-Swatantrar. Beams he like the confluence of Maaran, Yatiraja

and Vedanta Deshika. He is resplendent without any papams and is the sworn

enemy of Kali doshams. He who stays at the feet of Lakshmi Hayagriva and

considers the aradhanam of His Paduka as the parama purushartha (ultimate

goal of attainment), Glory unto him! "
