kalayaami kalidhvamsam kavim lOkadhivaakaram

yaSya kObi: prakaaSaabir aavidhyam niHatham thama:

 

I meditate on the Poet, who is like the Sun for the

whole world, to destroy the darkness of ignorance

(a~jnAnam) with his word and who destroys the Kali

dhOsham.

 

uRavu suRRamen RonRilaa voruvan

uganNdhavar thammai, maNmisaip

piRavi yEgedup paanadhu kaNden nNeNYchamenbaay,

kuRavar maadharga LOdu vaNdu

kuRiNYchi maruLisai paadum vEngkadatthu,

aRava nNaayagaR kinRadi maitthozhil pooNdaayE.

2. This Lord certainly grants mOksham and hence,

definitely we will get to perform servitude to Him. -

Declares AzhwAr in this pAsuram. This Lord- is

unparalleled peerless- unbounded Greatest Lord who has

no relations. He, out of His own will, blesses few and

due to which their sins and sorrows are removed! And

their births are destroyed! Oh my supportive mind! How

can I admire you and appreciate you! You have become

servant to the Lord of ThiruvEmkatam where

kuRinji-tuned songs are hummed by bees along with the

gypsy women- You have sought to perform kaimkaryam to

such Most virtuous Swami, who is there at

ThiruvEmkatam ONLY TO ENSLAVE US AND LET US PERFORM

SUCH SERVITUDE ONLY. HE IS WAITING FOR THAT.

 

Our Lord has no father; no mother; He is The

Primordial Chief. He has no equal and why to talk of

superior. otthAr mikkAr illAdha maamaayan.

 

Our Lord differs from BrahmA RudhrAdhIs in a very

important way .Latter are SamAdhika sampannars ( they

have many equals and superiors ). In contrast, Sriman

NaarAyaNan is SamAdhika Dharidhran ( He is poor in the

matter of having any one , who is His equal or

superior ).VyAsa Maharishi's upadEsam , " na dhaivam

KesavAth param , na VaasudEvAth paramasthi Paavanam , "

has to be kept in mind in this context.
