Guest guest
1.9.3. arugal il aaya perum seer amarargaL aadhi mudhalvan karugiyaneela nanmenivaNNan senthaamaraikkaNNan porusiRaippuL uvandhERum poomagaLaar thanikkELvan orugathiyin suvai thandhittozhililan ennOdudanE The Lord who has infinitely auspicious qualities and without any blemish what so ever, the first cause of the eternal souls, who has the dark hue radiant with the luster of blue sapphire and eyes like red lotus, who ascends Garuda with pleasure and who is the most beloved of Lakshmi, has joined me enabling me to experience all kinds of joy due to His presence in me. Azvar marvels at the soulabhya of the Lord who makes His devotees experience the same joy like the eternal souls. He possesses infinitely auspicious qualities and there is no defect in Him. This fact has been ascertained by Mahalakshmi Herself when she came out of the milky ocean. In srimadbhagavatham we have the following sloka: vilokayanthee niravadhyam aathmanaH padham Dhruvamcha avyabhichaarisadhgaNam ganDharva yakshaasurasidDhachaaraNa thraivishtapeyaadhishu na anvavindhatha She searched for one who is blemishless, abode of unswerving good qualities, and eternal but could not find one among the yakshas, gandharvas , devas etc. and she said, after eliminating everyone in whom she found some defect, sumangalaH yaScha na kangshathe maam, "there is only one who has all auspicious qualities with no blemish but he does now desire for me." Then Srimadbhagavatham says, evam vimrSya avyabhichaari sadhguNaiH varam nijaikaaSrayathayaa guNaaSrayam vavre varam sarvagunairapekshitham ramaa mukundham nirapeksham eepsitham Discriminating thus Lakshmi chose Lord Mukundha who had immutable good qualities, who was the abode of all gunas being Himself the abode of Himself a who had no desire for anything , to be her husband who is the best of all. This is the implication of the expression poomaLaar thanikkELvan arugal il aaya perum seer- the one who has infinitely auspicious qualities. amarargaL aadhi mudhalvan- He is the first cause of even the nithysooris. neelam nanmEni karugiya vaNNan- who has the hue of a dark blue sapphire. senthaamaraikkaNNan- Whose eyed are like red lotuses. poru SiRai puL uvandhu ERum- The one who gets on the bird with beautiful wings (Garuda) with pleasure. The pleasure is for both. The Lord obliges Garuda by getting on him whenever Garuda wishes in order to please him. oru gathi in suvai-He gives versatile enjoyment by His various actions. This refers to the experiences Azvar had when He manifested in all parts of the Azvar successively.
