Just to have the benefit of your thinkining on Aswini DevAs , here is a starter from this end : *** There are 12 Rks in the third hymn of the Book I of Rg Veda. Three are devoted to Aswin dEvAs .They are also saluted in the Seventh book of Rg Vedam . *** Asvinau in dual numbers are considered as the two sons of Sun during His metamorphosis as Asva (Horse) ; the Twins are attributed to have eternal Youth and beauty . They are saluted as expert Physicans and surgeons to the DEvAs ( Asvinou dEvAnam bhishajou ) .Their Mother is " SaraNya " in Vedic parlance . *** The Asvins are invoked for enlightenment on the dual of thought-action. They are described as " Swift-Footed " and " Fierce moving intheir paths " . *** The Asvins according to Yaksha & others are of many kinds : (1) Heaven and Earth (2) AhO-Rathri (Day and Night) , (3) The Sun and the Moon / Soorya-chandramasou (4) Two virtuous Princes of extraordinary beauty and Youth (5) They are the vitality of the human being as the motive force behind the journey of life (6) They are the wind and fire (Rg.Vedam : II.39.8) (7) They are widely present ( VyApana silau ) (8) They are PrANa-Apaana . *** Among Vedic Gods , they are linked with VisvadEvAs ,Ushas , Sarama and Panis . *** They have a 3 cornerd Chariot and are honey drinkers ( Madhva: biBhatham-- Rk IV.45). *** They are also referred to as " naasatya " ( na +asathya) . One Asvin is pervading every thing with moisture and the other with light .They are the two protectors (PaalayithAram) . *** They rise at dawn ( the illumination of Sathya) and help us climb thru successive(Five) levels of consciousness towards Sathyam and Aanandham ( Rig Vedam : IX.15.2) . *** " Asvinou vyAttham " Just a few stray thoughts , NamO Veda PurushAya , V.Sadagopan
