Guest guest
A friend of mine has fairly severe asthma and allergies as well as gout. I am wondering if these may all be related to his immune system and what foods or herbs I might recommend to him. His current diet is vegan, eating mainly organic food much of which he grows at home. His lifestyle is clean and active and he lives in an environment free of pollutants. Sat Nam, Guru Gopal Kaur
Guest guest
Guru Gopal Kaur Would you tel more about your friend. I am referring to the constitution, lifestyle, etc. Exactly what does your friend eat. Other symptoms? For instance, eating a lot of tofu may cause mucus. Eating tomatoes may cause problems if they are pitta constitution. Gurubandhu > > A friend of mine has fairly severe asthma and allergies as well as > gout. Guest guest
Gurubandhu, His constitution is vata/pita. He is very very thin, 5'11 " and weighing about 140 pounds. He eats many greens, rice both white and brown small amount of coffee daily, vegan diet and as previously mentioned most of the vegetables are grown organically in his yard. His water supply is a spring, so its pure. The asthma and allergies have been life long symptoms, the gout more recent. He is in his late 50s, physically fit,, runs, hikes, etc. I do see very dry sun damaged skin and some overgrowth of membrane near the corners of the surface of the eyeballs (blue). Does this information help you? If you have more questions - please ask me directly. I really appreciate your help. But I don't think that working on the immune system would necessary resolve these problems. Here's why: The immune system is not the source of the problems, it is just affected because the source is overwhelming to the system. The source is probably emotional (although it can also be an intense reaction to pollutants, the body usually handles pollutants if we can let go easily of emotional trauma). So here's my suggestion: Eating well helps release some of the extra burden we impose on the body so it can more easily feel and direct it's energy toward what really bothers it. The second thing is then to start experiencing the body's response that is called asthma or allergies, to truly feel the total experience of them without giving them the names asthma or allergy, to just experience them in the moment as if they were experienced for the very first time and might never come back. No expectations. The idea is to let the body express itself and to completely witness that expression. Letting go of the idea that the trauma is forever, that the disease is incurable. Once the body is truly heard, there is NO reason why it should express the same thing ever again... unless we need to hear it more completely again... Guest guest
I am new to this group as well as Kundalini yoga. I have also suffered from several body affected symptoms. It seems that the more allopathic medications I was taking, the less I felt in balance with my whole self. I met a woman who has become a dear friend who is a homeopath healer and she has diagnosed me so accurately that the remedy she suggested I take has had tremendous results to all aspects of my being. I had asthma, depression, and other immune system symptoms and have begun getting off of the allopathic medications as well as changing my diet and lifestyle. The homeopathic remedy with other natural supplements and teas such as " nettle tea " are detoxifying my physical body to a more balanced state. The journey of healing my whole being is in tune with my need to be in balance with the Universe. Kundaliniyoga , joan richards <joancarol wrote: > > Gurubandhu, > > His constitution is vata/pita. Guest guest
Sat Nam Guru Gopal It does sound like your friend is vata/ pitta from your description. It would be best to have some oil like flax seed oil. Ghee or coconut oil is best for pitta. He should stay away from nightshade family, especially peppers and tomatoes. Herbs like cumin and coriander, turmeric are good. Basmati rice is best. SSS said brown rice is hard on the kidneys. Cooked onions, garlic and ginger are good. In other words a light kitcheree is the best thing.Add a lot of veggies, especially celery and greens. Don't forget yoga. I had asthma when I started doing yoga. I found that bow, cobra, shoulderstand and plough worked well. Also front stetches.
