Guest guest
Dear all, I have been practicing and preaching yoga and meditation for several decades. The only one issue which I encounter in unending (24 hrs) meditations is negativity. There are plenty of " How " techniques to eliminate negativity in you. Negativity is like flesh and nail combination. So, we must learn to live with negativity and deal with it head-on. You cannot achieve perfect meditation if you don't practice meditation for 24 hours. Perfect meditation means you remain with your inner self completely. It is a state of complete thoughtlessness. A mind filled with negativity cannot achieve this kind of state. So, where is the escape route? In my personal opinion, there is one - you start facing the brute (negative/obsessive thoughts) face to face. It is like police meets the thief eye to eye. Take up one negativity at a time and deal with it using various other techniques. Thus, you can reach a state where you have made negativity into a force less emotions / feelings/ sensations /images/ words. We shall discuss more such issues after receiving your feedback. Guest guest
Speaking of negativities............................. I wish someone could address this experience of mine, and the anguish I feel as a result of it. I have not had a " near death " , or " out of body " experience, nor any communications from any angelic being, nor e.s.p. nor psychic abilities. With my first Kirtan Kriya however, I did have a mild (bliss) Kundalini experience, that did not lead to enlightenment or further experiences. In people I meet who have these experiences, they invariably have had n.d.e.'s or o.b.e.'s, - and all the metaphysical authors I've read also have had visitations or some such since early childhood. Here's what my anguish is about: I am worried that since I have had none of the preliminary early life experiences, and since I have had no further K. experiences, that somehow the full K. experience will not be mine, nor will psychic abilities - in short, that I will miss out on the full Kundalini awakening. No matter how happy or positive I am in my day to day life, this thought keeps nagging away at me, and keeps me at core, always anxious and discouraged. Though I am grateful for the one K. experience I have had, I fear that that will be all for me - that I will get no more. Well meaning people have advised me that psychic abilities are of no real consequence, yet my fears remain. Thank You, Serena
Guest guest
Dear Serena, Sat Nam! Thank you for being so honest about your 'neurosis of choice.' We all have them and you have at one level identified yours. Possibly you could find resolution if you looked a little deeper. Since you asked the question, I asked myself " What is my neurosis of choice? " Having identified it, I realized a basic similarity. Our mind chooses some program to give it something to do, to keep it engaged. The underlying program is an attachment to dissatisfaction. You had one Kundalini experience. Did you spend time enjoying and integrating that experience into your body? That could be part of why that did not satisfy you. If you had another one, would that satisfy you? Probably not, unless you have eliminated the dissatisfaction program. We have to work with ourselves to slowly eliminate the mind games that we play. We do so by paying attention to what we are doing and practice doing something else. So some people have had out of the body, psychic experiences, etc. That is not my thing, so I am sparing myself the agony of thinking that I will ever be other than I am or have some great WOW to talk about. I can't read auras, pastlives or visit Venus. What I am going for this life time is an in-the-body experience of simply feeling at peace and alive in my skin and connected to my own rhythms and the energies of Mother Earth. Now thats not this big thing that will sell books. But an in-the-body experience will not be available to me when I leave this planet and this body. So I have made it a priority this life time. I honor that you might have another goal. Each of us is different. But you might look deeper and see what you really want to experience this life time and start spending some time each day cultivating it. Start cultivating a feeling of satisfaction of what you have experienced. After each KY exercise, enjoy what you feel. Satisfaction happens in the moment. >Here's what my anguish is about: I am worried that since I have had none of the preliminary early life experiences, and since I have had no further K. experiences, that somehow the full K. experience will not be mine, nor will psychic abilities - in short, that I will miss out on the full Kundalini awakening. * We miss out every moment that we do not pay attention to what is happening. Could your concern be that you will not become conscious this life time and enjoy the moment? That takes daily practice. Hey, I have practiced yoga every day for 38 years and I am still working on being more conscious. There is no end. There is always more. The best we can do is train ourselves to be as conscious as we can every day. We do see results. And that is very satisfying if we take a few moments to pay attention in our body to the in the now experience. You might want to consider that you have an illusionary representation of what other people experience. I have known people who have had some of the experiences you mentioned, but they weren't instantaneously enlightened. Some still seem to be quite dysfunctional. And I have never known anyone who had some great experience and didn't have to work on integrating it into their psyche. We all have to do our work. This is Earth School. What I teach is how to train yourself to get to a higher place of consciousness (just in case you are not automatically enlightened by some other means.) Try the neutral channel. It is the rabbit hole through which you access the Divine. There is no dissatisfaction in neutral and there are no mind games. You can go there anytime you want. You don't have to wait for that special experience. That special moment could be right now. Blessings, Guru Rattana :+) PS The more you are present to the sensations in your body, the longer the feeling will last and the more satisfied you will feel. Guest guest
Dear Serena: When you say " no matter how positive I am... " , you cannot be positive if you believe in thoughts like " this will be my only experience! " That is a negative thought. By negative, I mean " life denying " . You acknowledge this of course, but you don't seem to realize that you have the power to believe it or not to believe it. The first time someone solves a math problem by themselves, would you say that that's the only time this will ever happen to them? If someone falls in love, would you say that that's it, they will never fall in love again? Now perhaps it is difficult to stop believing this thought for you. Then there is some kind of underlying fear that you haven't noticed yet. That fear comes from another thought. Imagine someone who believes that there's something evil in spiritual experiences. Imagine someone who believes they don't deserve to feel blissful, that they are damned to the end of their life to live in misery. Well then it would be hard to shake off the thought " this will be my only spiritual experience! " So I invite you to pay attention to your thought and where it comes from. Be inquisitive. What's behind it. You do that through meditation by dropping the fear of that thought, by accepting it as an old friend and wanting to know more about it. By feeling it in your deepest self. Guest guest
Dearest Serena, We all have psychic abilities which can lay dormant for many years. Sometimes, many of us have a more subtle awareness, known as intuition. It can be so subtle that we don't even know we have it. I think that if you look back on your life or even at your life at present, you would see that you, in fact have this wonderful gift. This is being psychic at an awareness level. Ok, it may not as dramatic as an Out of Body experience or a Near Death experience but it is there all the same. Kundalini yoga, as you are aware isn't just about awakening our psychic abilities. It is about being the best that we can be. It's about raising our conciousness to higher levels and then expanding that awareness to all that are around us on a loving, compassionate level. Your gifts will become more realised to you if you just let it go and don't pay too much attention on your expectations for psychic abilities. Love and light to you. Sat Nam . Guest guest
Thank you all. Yes, the fear/neurosis is so strong/stubborn, that it paralyzes me at one level, and that is why it has been so difficult to get deeper to the root of it. I will explore the " attachment to dissatisfaction " in meditation, and see what my higher self reveals. But yes, I did definitely enjoy my K. experience, and have spent many beautiful moments recalling the bliss of it, and how it stayed with me all day. I can see that my old habit kicked in again, as I compared myself to others (and felt inadequate) instead of focusing on the idea of " the gift of the experience " - thank you for noticing that. And thank you Guru Rattanna for sharing your goal of an " in-the-body " experience in this lifetime, as that truly is my highest goal also. I am not entirely sure of what you mean when you say " integrating it into my psyche " Could you explain how you would do that? The neutral channel, yes, and gratitude for my experience, yes, thank you for the reminders. Yes, , I do have some keen intuitions, and my greatest goal indeed, is to extend the inner love to as many around me as possible, in as large and compassionate a way as possible. Yes, " let it go, and don't pay too much attention to expectations for psychic abilities " . Yes, I will focus on being the best me I can be. Thank You. And I got this big grin on my face, Atwar, when I realized, just as you said, that I can not be as positive as I think I am, LOL, if indeed I have such a thought as fearing that " this will be my only experience " . Hm, power to believe it or not believe it - thank you for offering me that choice - as I now reject the fear of not having another experience. And I will explore the idea of " not deserving to feel bliss " and " feeling dammed to the end of my life to live in misery " . I will definitely explore these thoughts. I will reread these letters often, until they sink in. Thank you all, again. In gratitude, Serena
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Serena and Everyone, " integrating it into my psyche " Could you explain how you would do that? That means that consciously we experience in our physical body, emotional body and mind the joy of being alive. I give ideas on how to do that at the end of each New Millennium Being newsletter. Basically we have to train ourselves to be conscious and expand our awareness by paying attention and feeling the sensations in our body. We devote ourselves to gentle loving practice everyday, eventually paying attention to and savoring with every breath as it gives us life. It requires disciplining the mind and loving the body and our experiences. Get in touch with the energy you use for your " neurosis of choice " and then use that energy to love being alive. Redirecting destructive energies is very beneficial and will certainly help you achieve your goal. Blessings, Guru Rattana
