Satnam,

I have a question i donot know if it might be a silly question.

I am practisng KY since 4 months...I am more interested in raising my

KY.I have seen that mostly the stress is on well-being & looking

good. But apart from this i need to have more concentration as i am not

able to stable my mind yet. While meditating my mind is not

stable........

I know i am supposed to have patience. But will doing SaT Kriya & Nabhi

Kriya help me raise my KY energy. How will i know.........what changes

should I expect????

Thankx in Advance.

Dear Soniya

In Kundalini Yoga good looks is not emphasized and comes naturally by

working on the inner flow and developing one's radiance. Well being is

almost a side effect of the kriyas which are really about awareness

and raising the kundalini.

So if you continue practicing the kriyas and do your sadhana every

morning you will steengthen your nervous system and your kundalini

will rise safely and naturally!

Dear Soniya,

Interesting that you would ask this question, as I am writing on this topic for

my NMBeing on Libra, which those who are d in the on-line Kundalini

yoga training courses will receive in about a week. or send a blank email to

nmbeng-

Here is part of what I am writing.

To achieve stability in the mind (and to be able to concentrate), we have to

access the neutral mind. The dual mind is by its nature fluctuating, so we will

not find stability in our dualistic mind. Until we are able to open our

consciousness to our neutral mind, we operate out of and are aware of only our

dual mind. The nature of the neutral mind is stable, non-judgmental, permanent,

still and at peace.

The practice Kundalini yoga and meditation activates the pineal and pituitary

glands, which is necessary to bring our neutral mind into our conscious

awareness. And yes, Sat Kriya and Nabhi Kriya are powerful tools. But the

process involves not only the practice of techniques, but our active attention.

That is why we are guided to focus at the third eye, at the tip of the nose and

at the top of our head. Of course, this is difficult at first because the 6th

and 7th chakras are not yet awakened. They are dormant and available to be

awakened. Our simple effort to focus helps create the opening.

The more we practice AND pay attention, the more we notice that there is a place

to focus and that place is stable. This is a sign that we are awakening our

neutral mind. Our neutral mind is the only pathway out of the confining prison

of our dual mind. So cultivate it and you will find not only stability in your

mind, you will find peace and joy.

Blessings,

It is natural for the mind to be unsettled especially in a busy

world. Do not fight against it treat it as a natural ebb and flow

like the ocean. Start to re-focus on the " breath " . The breathing and

focus with calm the mind.

You have received very good advice. Listen well and clear your mind. No one

can tell you what to expect. The desire to see results comes directly from your

unstable mind. Let go but hold on. That is the Tao.

Soniya and Grant

I approach these areas as a complete beginner but one who has

self-guided his thoughts on spiritual and philosophical matters for many

years.

At age 56, last week I had my first lesson with Yogi Nirmalendu who

teaches Kundaliniyoga here in Glasgow, Scotland. I admit that it

challenged my abilities at all levels. How could it not have been any

other way? I have stepped into an unknown area with no proof of anything

in a world of sprituality that has been defined by thousands of years of

endeavour. All I possess is me, a small handful of brain cells and a

desire to learn from others who have identified the main the steps

towards our ultimate goal of Self Realistaion. I will never, ever deny

our Christian God but I do recognise that there are multitudes of ways

to get closer to Him.

Since subscribing to this group as recently as last week I have of

course, received a number of the Group's emails, each expressing

individual problems but also revealing their writers' desires to obtain

'quick fixes'.

I emphasise that I have no qualified solution to those probelms so

please forgive me if my thoughts are interpretted by you as an

expression of arrogance. That is the direct opposite of my intentions.

However, I do wish to share my thoughts which may or may not assist in

some way those who wish, like me, that there was a short route to

achieving the ultimate goal.

Is there not a natural tendancy for us all to aspire to reaching

perfection in one easy and short step? Perhaps that is an unrealistic

ambition. If it was realistic would there be a need for Yoga or any

other form of spiritual discipline and wouldn't we all reach our shared

goal without the need for learning? Even a casual examination of world

philosophies, history and religions reveals that they all seek

understanding of truths that are beyond the powers of logic and science

to analyse and therefore to report with absolute accuracy. There is one

universal truth and power but none of us can describe it in all its

manifestations other than to give 'it' or That a name. The best I can

manage is to say that " It " or " That " is God and that we are all minute

parts of God, who is infinite.

So far my reading shows that the most successful yoga practitioners

have devoted decades or all of their lives to continuous spiritual

development but even they will admit to not attaining the perfect state

for, if they were to reach perfection they would be God. It would be far

more than self-delusion for anyone to believe that they had reached such

a state.

How then, can we hope to leap from the universal state of imperfection

to being close to perfection in a few short weeks, months or years

unless we are given that gift directly by God? The journey between the

two extremes is one of both pleasure and pain in overcoming obstacles,

achieving small but incrementally positive improvements. This journey is

a test of the spirit, the mind and the body. So, we build faith in our

own capabilities and from there we continue to improve although we must

not fool ourselves into believing that we can ever become the whole of

perfection itself. How can we if we start with the yogic precept that we

are each but one infintely small part of the universal whole? However,

with dedication, we may approach, understand perfection more closely and

therefore understand more readily how to improve. We cannot do so with a

few moments of effort in the vastness of infinite time. Like athletes we

cannot expect to leap from running 100 metres in 14 seconds to running

the same disttnce in under 10 seconds with only a few weeks or months'

training. To paraphrase the saying, " the pleasure is not in arriving

but in the journey " . If not, we would not appreciate the experiences or

learn the necessary lessons along the way.

As I said in my initial talk with Yogi Nirmalendu, " Over the years I

have grown closer to believing that each of us has his or her own path

to walk and that we each have a natural and different resonant frequency

with 'That' or God. Every drum or instrument, no matter how closely

tuned it is to all the others, has its own slightly different

frequency. " Put another way, all paths lead to Rome and each of us has

his or her own path to find and to walk. The secret is to want to reach

the correct goal and to follow the path that unfolds itself in front of

you, step by step. Unrealistic ambition and lack of patience are in

themselves, substantial barriers to success.

I wish that we could reach the ultimate goals of enlightenment and

self-realisation without trial or pain or the passage of time but if we

did, we would not fully understand the difference between our current

states and those higher states. Nor would we experience the journey. If

on average we live 78 years for men (say), is it realistic to think we

should know and understand as much at age 10 (say) as those who are 78

years old? Each and every one of us is different; we all start in

different places. By definition then, we all have different journeys to

travel and different lessons to learn but we all are hopeful of

reaching the same destination. Put in the Glasgow way, " what is for you

will not go by you " .

Sir Michael Fisher,

Thankyou! This letter came at a perfect time in my life. I've been dealing

with many aspects of myself and my beliefs. They've been not so much in

conflict with eachother, as in perfect alignment with eachother which brings

me to wonder why I'm where I am and not where I'm going if everything is

already lining up. A bit self-centered, I now believe.

Understanding we are all part of the universal construct playing out infront

of us, for us and by us, was the easy part for me (although it didn't start

that way). Now it's the process of participating in this construct that I'm

trying to overcome.

*oppinion*

God I feel is what we all are so to say any one person is god is indeed

arrogant. God is the action, the reason, the result, and everything between

everything. We are all part of universal perfection and comming into the

light, so to speak, is the spiritual journey that we all are taking part

of. Yoga just makes the journey more enjoyable, whereas meditation unglues

us from our stagnant thought process. This is probably something you have

already thought about, but your letter provoked me to become more intune

with these points so I decided to share them.

*end*

Dear Raj:

I do not live in India and don't know of any Kundalini Yoga teacher in

your area. But that does not mean there are none. Perhaps someone else

can help you from this group!
