Guest guest
Sat nam! Golden Bridge Yoga in Los Angeles is holding a Yogathon extravaganza this Saturday, 10/13/07, to help raise funds for an orphanage that is located in one of the most remote, impoverished regions in the world. The 26-hour event will be jam-packed with activities from the moment it begins until it ends on Sunday. You can stay for just a short time, if that's all your schedule permits, or until it ends Sunday evening! Even if you can't attend, you can still be a part of this incredible humanitarian mission! This event is a major contributor in helping to bring doctors and medical supplies to the Manjushree Orphanage in India (9,500 feet in the Himalayan mountains!). The long journey to this remote part of the world will be taking place mid-November, so time is of the essence! For a link to see a video about the mission and the orphanage as well as specific information about the Yogathon, please go to: http://www.zLighthouse.org As a fellow yogi so eloquently writes: Help Us Help These Children. Guest guest
Sat nam, Jiwan Jot Kaur, Thanks so much for your response! The Yogathon is helping to raise funds for the " Manjushree Orphanage " in India. It's 9,500 feet in the Himalayan mountains. It's so far removed from the rest of the world that most people have forgetton or don't even know it exists. As such, it's a very difficult, arduous journey to undertake. I believe the orphanage you're referring to is the one at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh. And yes, to answer your question, the foundation organizing the trip can definitely use your help along with anyone else who would like to be a part of making a real difference in these children's lives! I just corresponded with Padmini who is on the board of directors, and she told me that one of the little boys recently died of typhoid fever, which just indicates the tremendous need for this trip to take place so they can save other children. It was very hard for them to hear the news of this little boy's passing. If you're not able to attend the Yogathon, you can contact them directly. I know how much they would appreciate it! I'm not sure how you're interested in helping, but I do know that they are primarily relying on donations to make this trip happen. As I mentioned in my first post, the expedition is taking place in mid-November. There are doctors who are going on this trek and also medical supplies are being transported up there as well. Once they get to the orphanage, a medical facility will be constructed. Also, Gurmukh is on the board of directors of Amrit Davaa World Health, the name of the foundation that is organizing the trip. If you're planning on seeing her in New York on Friday, I'm almost positive she'll mention the trip as it's very close to her heart, and she's been a big part of the project. The organization's website is: http://www.amritdavaaworld.org. Help Us Help These Children. Healthy People. Healthy World. The Art Of Medicine. The Act Of Service. ~ Padmini Thanks again for reaching out! Sunder Kaur, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate http://www.zlighthouse.org A website devoted to holistic health, kundalini yoga & spirit!
