I agree with you that compassion is a stable foundation that should not be excluded in order to achieve enlightenment, however I believe that in order to do this we must turn our focus inward; so that we can let go of the stresses from the outside world and control our own responses. While I agree that we have to make a sincere effort to produce great things for the future I do not agree that it involves the west's idea of itself - but the introspect of each individual.
