Guest guest
I have a letter I'd like to share from someone I was attempting to reach, a person several states away practicing a different style of yoga. It was so hard to connect with her and I had to work at it really hard. And thats what i mean, is that most people are in a fear state, and are very western and with holding, rather than relaxed and open. I think it has a lot to do with 911 and after the event propaganda and marketing. I know 911 was an inside job and that our yoga should be a way to heal and bridge community so we can get some of our unity back. So I think that main element has something to do with 6th sensory living. And I am starting to feel real compassion for those living that way because it seems hard for people who are. Not that it should be easy but I think the chains are being tightened on people, and they are not responding to the truth process. Show me those who are. Help me find them, I am I am making a log of who and where and how they are doing. But sometimes the underdog wins one once in a while. And after sending a snippet of a lady talking about the 6th sensory approach, it really helped her open up. But within her letter, I found we can bring into view some of the stuff I am pointing to.... I mean when you are 6th sensory you are asking how are we in it together, you want to bridge, its natural. BUt we are talking about ego verses spirit, and the more you set out to bridge, the more you find this attitude that ignores and rejects the 6th sensory view. This is why I say the whole landscape is a booby trap. Most people on the gross plane are fear based and thinking that way. So what is kundalini without Sikh Dharma? Anyhow, here is what my new friend said, " I am certainly interested in getting to know you -- I looked at your photos and browsed Masso's site a bit. The new studio is awesome- looking. Wish we had something like that here. Anyway, yes, just so you know, I should explain my approach as it's different from yours and so is not dissonance, but just a different way of looking at and relating to the same things. I am more of a plain-English sort of person... I'm originally a journalist, and second, I may be sort of a five-sense person after all. I feel like my purpose in sharing yoga with people is to present it in a way that people won't be intimidated by or think is too complicated, so I tend to approach spiritual things cautiously in my classes -- relate the eight limbs to tangible experiences, etc. I don't think " Western mind " can be fought as much as it can be reasoned with, so that's where I feel I come in with my students. I show them how they can be helped, and I try to draw attention to things that have benefitted me personally... so yes, perhaps " sites and services " was a bit TOO formal, but.... hehe So please don't assume I'm thinking with my Western mind if I speak a different language or if I'm careful in unfamiliar situations. Like you said, technology prevents us from truly reading each other as we might in person, while at the same time connecting us with people we might otherwise never meet, which is kind of bittersweet. I agree that we're working for the same things and I appreciate a different perspective (and a different way of communicating), so no worries about me being put off if you speak differently. I thought your " I'm a human trying to connect " thing was really funny, and I appreciated it considering how many non- humans try to communicate with me on a daily basis! haha I also appreciate the influences of people more spiritual than I am. I had never heard the mp3 you sent me, but I agree that it does relate to yoga in that we have to tap into something more if we even want to practice, otherwise we're just stretching or doing gymnastics. That's a challenge for me, as I'm an agnostic molecules-are-molecules kind of person, and I'm still trying to figure out " the answers " ... whatever that means .... The nice thing about yoga is that sometimes we don't even have to know how or why it works -- it just does. That's comforting for me and something I want to share with my students. Just stopping and taking a look at what's going on inside sometimes teaches you all you need to know. How do YOU feel it relates to yoga? I imagine you have different ideas on the topic. " Shouldn't the technology be a tool we use to get to know those we don't and because its our portal into the world we are reaching into and spreading ourselves around in, shouldn't we use it to get to know people? And when you do, if people are fear based and too western minded, then they are quick to reject or suspect and sht down the communication process. The corporations have influenced the minds of so many that its like you can't get anything to happen unless you are corporate, people are stuck on corporate standards of images and communication. I am not trying to be a perfect speaker and i do not think yoga needs a corporate standard. So maybe the element should be spiritual activism. This is the way the internet started. The internet was a giant bulletin board starting with your city, moving out to region, then state, then nation then the world. When searching, one found everyone on the planet that was talking on the same subject as that searched for. In 1994 the first internet one found when logging on was the usenet. Then came .com (commercial), now the usenet requires special software or the use of google. Google reports information back to the Govt. & hides protest info from China audiences regarding the Tank that drove over the student. Remember? The first internet encountered should be one of discussion, not commerce. Thats how it was, when the internet started.
