You might try noting during your yoga, whenever the mind 'egages' to critique, simply note, 'critiquing' or 'engaged' and let go. Stay on the breath. Soon you will learn to began following another voice, the inner one. I found a resistance in my hips a few days ago that I didn't know i had, following this subtle suggestion/thought. I am now doing locust pose for this and breathing into this area. Hate feeling like you need help from the group while being a therapist? Try allowing these thoughts and neutralizing their effect by adding, 'but I love me'. Sounds silly but it works. Soon Marty will get that message. Your constant pounding of Marty, cuts you off from the self-love you are looking for, but already have. Thats why sitting in silence is where we all eventually feel it, find it. It never went anywhere. Soon you will make the connection between finding self-love and the constant barrage of critiques, judgments, and analyses. Water the flower and give the self-love a chance. It will grow slowly, you will have breakthroughs many small. > I am trying to be neutral and not emotional and the Aries in me is having > fun with these emotional upheavals right now ~Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Don't be passive. Allow the emotion, feel the emotions. I cannot manifest my destiny unless I am willing to do the work of changing and being uncomfortable for a while - how ever long it takes. * Oh so true. But change does happen and it feels so good. ~Have you tried counting the number of negatives you use in a post? You are right, but its an ongoing process. Using sadhana to help this along, requires discipline and awareness of subtle shifts and changes taking place. Learn to allow and quiet the mind so you can, this will happen as you practice. Are there any other men out here that are MUCH further down this path than I who can share their early experiences of this process with the group? I would love to hear from them. * Ok guys, come forth. :+) ~I don't look at it as a path anymore, to me its integrated now so that its like breathing. The more you practice the more you integrate. My early recollections of practice were similar to yours Marty. I just knew I was tired of identifying Deva with my job, and somehow feeling like a piece of me was missing. So I meditated, alot, up to 2.5 hrs a morning, cold showers, some yoga. Processed alot of fear early on. I noticed I began identifying less and less with material things like career. But the more I practiced the more I realized how attached I was to material life, and my human/parental programming. As Yogi Bhajan liked to say, you 'peel away the layers of the onion'. The onion is big (my quote). The onion has a mind of its own. Meditation, breaks the barrier between the mind and the soul. Yoga helps prepare you. Find a meditation, Nuetral Meditation?, and do it for 40 days, work up to 31 mins, then do 90 days, then 120, keep going. Don't stop to critique. For grounding, nothing beats Sat Kriya. Also I am doing the neutral mind meditation: Does anyone have any experiences with this one that they can share? * There is a space and place that IS neutral. Keep bringing your attention to this space and to the quality of neutral. It also has all the other male qualities of stable, permanent, always present, imperturbable. ~Follow Guru Rattan's advice. Meditate for length, and build up of many days. Do some yoga first. This will also build discipline, to keep you going. The neutral space also allows you to open to your empathy. Because now you can feel your feelings, not in a reactive way. The Neutral mind meditation I was given is: the " wa he gu ru " mantra, silently, focused on 3rd eye with eyes closed, breathe regulates itself, hand in Buddha mudra. ~My first one was similar, same mantra, same eye position. If you like this and had good results try One Minute Breath. Build up to hour, 2 hours, you will have neutrality. It is very interesting to see how the development of identity, a root chakra, and the navel point have everything to do with the ability to manifest and have prosperity in my life with my relationships, my private practice, and finances. The universe has not and will not let me receive the goodies unless I do the work to deserve it :-) ~It is what it is. Guest guest
Hey, I have agree with the advice. I´m doing Sat kriya and it really evens you out. I have a disability, cerebral palsy, uneven hips, and suffered from real depression, social anxiety, etc. I´ve been doing Sodarshan kriya 600+ days and sat 100+ days with equal rest time. I used to vent to this group also. Now I´ve found some equanimity, to stop wrestling with my emotions and get on with enjoying life, yes enjoying life. Something i thought could never happen. Keep up and you will be kept up. You will feel pain, the first 40 days even 90 days is rough after that it get easier and better. Keep up and you will be kept up. Be honest with yourself, don´t miss a day, even if it´s just 5mins to maintain the pattern and you will see results. -Sat Nam ,Chris
Guest guest
Sat Nam group and Deva, Thanks for the reply Deva, I do post a lot of negatives! Ouch! The onion is bi indeed and I will peel a bit more today. I appreciate all of the feedback and personal sharing of your experiences. It helps A lot. And thank you for pointing out to a therapist that asking for group support is not a bad thing. (Duh) I have learned what Yogi Bhajan said is so true. " It takes the same energy to be a devil or a saint. " He also said, " Each day be a little more satvic (angelic) and a little less animalistic. " (from the Mind book). " And if you are going to be angry be angry you are not angelic yet. " And that thing about Saying " but I love me " after the intrigues pop up is silly but I am doing it and it maybe working on day 1! Thank you Deva very much.
