Guest guest
Hi Gururattan, Thanks so much for your website and your books. I'm new to KY and found your website and ordered your book, " Transitions To a Heart Centered World. " Been doing the routine every AM and a small routine in the PM, so far I do: The Tune In Your Warm Up Series in the Book Breathing from Hatha Yoga The Meditation Exercise -- forget the name but mentally chant: SA NA TA MA while focused at the third eye The closing Just started a PM routine I do The short warm up The above meditation I've been practicing for a little over a month now and am seeing fantastic results. I had an issue with negative energy that has been a problem for about 9 years now, I tried as hard as I could to overcome it or transmute it but it was so persistent, at times I wasn't sure what was really happening, it seemed bizarre and extreme, actually it had me to the point where my life has been very limited for these past years. Anyway, I am quite happy to report that when I do the above KY exercises, I can feel the energy and it goes through the chakras replacing the negative energy!!! Yippie -- finally something that is helping me that I can do for myself! Thank you so very much. This may broaden my horizons. So far the negative energy will come over me again at night? I am wondering after practicing for a long time, will the positive energy take hold permanently? Also wondering -- is there anything else I can do to raise my vibration? Today I did the exercise set for 2 minutes each, prior to this I could only manage 1 minute but my muscles etc. seem ready for the longer set and I thought it did seem to raise my vibration and the energy even higher. I have studied something called Concept Therapy for many years, they teach that thinking/acting/feeling positive is the big key to keeping a person's vibration high. Do you have anything else that you may be able to share with me? Thanks so much! : ) Christine
Guest guest
Dear Christine: I'll let Gururattana answer you more in depth, but in the mean time I wanted to offer you my 2 cents regarding negative and positive energy. This is a little longer than I like because I know that the length of my response will scare away some people. I know some people will read on just because they've gotten used to me! I want to take my time because I have tried shorter versions and I know the concept is not easy to grasp. It becomes easier with practice. So I'll first explain and then I'll give an example. The short of it is that yes, you will experience yourself more and more with positive energy. My experience in the beginning was bliss after each yoga class. It was incredible and I was wondering why the negative stuff would set itself back in, why did my vibration go back down after some time? I did not know at the time and just kept going with Kundalini Yoga. A partial answer I experienced was that my vibration never went back down to the level it was prior to starting Kundalini Yoga. I know this because if I ate a meal cooked with wine and the wine wasn't totally cooked out, I felt my vibration coming down. I never felt that before starting Kundalini Yoga. So my baseline was higher, yet some negativity was still seeping in between yoga classes. Today, I know that the negative energy isn't mine. If I feel it as a part of me, it is because I took it on as if it were mine. You see, we are each a perfect spiritual being, but we don't believe it, instead we believe some of the negative stuff belongs to us. We believe we have to defend ourselves when others appear to attack us and we have to think certain ways and believe certain things, and to keep up all that stuff takes energy and holds on to the negative energy. When we do Kundalini Yoga we let go slowly of all of that but then we get caught on by our lifestyle between classes we go back to what we know from the past including our past hurt. When we accept that negativity comes from something that is not our pure spiritual self, there is nothing to fight against! We just recognize it as not being ours and open ourself to who we might truly be instead. There is nothing to let go, because the recognition that it isn't ours never lets it in in the first place. Now this happens more and more completely with experience. I'll give you an example of what I experienced today. I went to the office. I had lots of forms to file. Each client we have has a folder and each time a client is visited by a home health aide, a form is turned in to the office signed by the aide and the client to keep a record for the State and for the company that what needed to be done was actually done. I was filing these forms. They had been pre sorted. A stack of forms for clients whose last name began with " A " were followed at a 90 degree angle by a stack of forms for clients whose last name began with " B " , and so on. I had a little table on wheels (the same as the hospital table on which meals are placed for patients to eat from their bed) to work from. In order to have enough space to put the folders to the side of the stacks of forms so I could put the form into them, I had the stacks of forms hang a little beyond the left side of my table, but most of it was supported by the table and everything worked well. Suddenly the person I report to raised her voice " WHAT ARE YOU DOING? " I responded calmly that I was filing the forms. She interrupted, agitated, and pointing at my stacks of paper not fully supported by the table I was working on and told me quite sternly to get those stacks fully supported. She is not my supervisor, but she does hold a position of supervisor in that office. I did what she asked. But I looked shocked. Back to work I watched my mind arguing. I was feeling treated like a child as if in her mind I did not know what I was doing. I was shocked partly because I have gotten quite a good reputation where I work and this felt like a breach of what I expected: a little more trust for my ability to do my work correctly. So I felt like telling her: I know what I am doing! Then I caught myself in my inner drama and accepted my feelings and stopped arguing with what had happened. I realized I was taking it all personally. What if instead I was simply not taking it personally? What if I accepted that it wasn't about me? I let the energy associated with the event go its own course. And it occurred to me that there was tension between the supervisor and me because of what had just happened. She wasn't talking to me when she passed by to do her work. It also occurred to me that whatever I presented her with scared her and that she cared enough to say something to make the situation less scary for her. So the next time she passed by I thanked her for caring enough to say something earlier. Then she said that yes she cared because when she moves she's on a mission, moves quickly, and when she saw how I was working she got scared that in her mission mode she might bring my stacks of forms all over the floor. By the time I left work there was no tension between us. She was laughing at the situation. The tension between us was just a symptom of what it feels like when negative energy is held in. I helped her release her side when I told her something that helped her see I was not holding on to any grudge toward her. And it helped her describe her fear, so she was taking responsibility for her reaction instead of holding on to the tone of her voice and her pointed finger at the way I was working. I did not have to ask her to take responsibility for her feelings. That just happened naturally because I did not take it personally. So in conclusion, Kundalini Yoga will bring you to the positive state you are looking for but then it is your responsibility to keep your space clean! Guest guest
Dear Christine and Everyone! Thanks so much for your website and your books. * You are most welcome. I'm new to KY and found your website * Did you find the free on line lessons on www.kundaliniyoga.org ? These will direct your exploration of self and KY. and ordered your book, " Transitions To a Heart Centered World. " * Good choice. This was my first and still my favorite. * Your routine sounds fine to get started. I've been practicing for a little over a month now and am seeing fantastic results. I had an issue with negative energy -- when I do the above KY exercises, I can feel the energy and it goes through the chakras replacing the negative energy!!! Yippie -- finally something that is helping me that I can do for myself! * This is great progress in such a short period of time. Andl it is great that you are so aware of what is happening. Thank you so very much. This may broaden my horizons. * That is what KY is about -- expanding our awareness. So far the negative energy will come over me again at night? * The subconscious is active at night and especially active 2 1/2 hours before sunrise. That is why we recommend doing Ky and meditation before sunrise. I know this is not always possible, but monitor when you experience these energies and do your best to get up earlier and do KY before Sunrise. You can experience dramatic shifts this way. I am wondering after practicing for a long time, will the positive energy take hold permanently? * The longer you practice the more you will shift your consciousness. To say they we will never experience negative energy again would not be realistic. But the more conscious we get and the more we clear our subconscious negativity and programming, the more our emotional energy will be authentic indicators, directives or communications from our soul. We will have less and less programmed responses. Or at least we will be able to identify them and respond differently. Like Awatar's experience. Also wondering -- is there anything else I can do to raise my vibration? * The more you practice and the longer you practice KY more you will raise your vibration. Enjoy the process and the progress. Today I did the exercise set for 2 minutes each, prior to this I could only manage 1 minute but my muscles etc. seem ready for the longer set and I thought it did seem to raise my vibration and the energy even higher. * There you go. You are already answering your own questions. In fact you are listening and following your internal guidance. Good job. I have studied something called Concept Therapy for many years, they teach that thinking/acting/feeling positive is the big key to keeping a person's vibration high. Do you have anything else that you may be able to share with me? * Try staying neutral. * Also start reading my past newsletters New Millennium Being which can be accessed on www.yogatech.com ezine button. The one on Libra #139 gives a good sequence at the end on acessing our neutral channel and then bringing that consciousness into our body. It also refers you to the previous Libra issue where I discuss the neutral mind. * Always remember -- our goal is a non-verbal experience of Self not an explanation.
