Guest guest
I am also a newcomer, living in western Pennsylvania, near the Ohio- West Virginia tri-state. Although of Christian antecedents, I've been a persistent seeker since my teen years, struggling through Kant, Schopenhauer, etc., but like Omar Khayyam, always " left by the same door in which I came. " Since 1979, I've been a member of the Theosophical Society, but haven't been active in recent years since the nearest branch is in Pittsburgh and at this point in my life, I tend to avoid city driving. I have quite a bit of their literature, including " Isis Unveiled " , plus related works like " Fragments of a Faith Forgotten " by G.R.S. Mead, the Nag Hammadi Library, and most of Elaine Pagels' books on the Gnostics. Also around the house is Mohini Chatterji's translation of the Bhagavad Gita. the Ravi Kumar edition of " The Jain Cosmology " and some related items. A few days ago, I finished re-reading--after a lapse of ten years or so-- " Kundalini, the Evolutionary Energy in Man " by Gopi Krishna, with commentary by James Hillman, who points out some similarities in Jungian psychology. A bit frightening in places, since there is a right way and a wrong (or accidental) way to arouse Kundalini. We are living in what regards itself as a highly enlightened age, but in spite of Stephen Hawking et al, we still don't know what happened before time began and it is still difficult to get our fingers around the concept of " finite but unbounded!
