Guest guest
Hi Betin, Can relate to your issues with fear, in the past I had so much fear from some of the same reasons as you. I still struggle with it, but it is much better due to something a mentor told me about 1.5 years ago. (Sometimes I think to myself, I have had so much fear over things, I think I have died a million deaths already -- heck with the real thing! LOL For me -- thinking about things and fearing them probably is worse than the acutal experience itself, due to the great trickster -- the mind.) The mentor had been practicing Sri Nisergatta's information from the book " I AM " , and I took that and practiced it also along with reading " The Power of Now " by E. Tolle, and also reading " Transcending The Levels of Consciousness " , by Dr. David Hawkins -- and really using these as my focus. These three works all fit in very well together. What they show is that we are the " Self " not the little ego self -- we are not the mind nor pleasure nor pain -- that is a function of the mind, we are the spirit of whatever you term it, God, The Power, etc. when we unhook ourselves from the mind by becoming the observer of it, we can be really free from a lot of fears. These three books will give you such a complete overview of what exactly the mind and the ego is. Also the realization that we go on when we leave the body, it may be in a different form, but we still go on. When you are not identified as you " self " being the body -- and see that you do have this other part that you really are eternally -- it is not as scary. In order to have this realization you usually need to develop your spiritual self and be identified with that plane of life versus the material plane of life and KY is a great tool for that -- you will have experiences that science cannot yet prove, but you will know beyond a shadow of doubt that there is life after. It becomes self-factual, as in my study they teach that all knowledge is in only three catagories: fact, theory or fantasy. At this point in the evolution in society things like the afterlife cannot be measured with machinery so it has to become self-factual by self-experience that you prove to yourself. If you can learn to identify yourself as the " I AM " , you go around all day long in a meditative state replying to yourself, I AM a part of the I AM Consciousness, (I am not the body nor the mind) become the observer of the mind and you will see how much the mind deceives the real us, basically it is like it hypnotizes the real us. Also this is in total agreement of the teacings of " A Course in Miracles " . I was shocked so many times by the thoughts that came up when I observed them instead of getting involved in them -- all of the sudden when thoughts would start on their " train of causation " (once a thought is in the subconscious the mind will then reason deductively to prove it as TRUE!!!) I'd be able to see -- hey that is not true -- or that is not happening now. Really we begin to see that the mind is just an instrument -- and we can begin to get free of some of the negative ways it works. For some people E. Tolle says that -- some people's minds are more vicious than others. I believe this to be true, as I see my mind is not my friend but many times just wants to keep me miserable by autosuggesting negative things to me over and over! Oh and especially when I am starting to feel better -- how it will really keep trying to autosuggest negative ideas/thoughts. Another thing to consider which I am giving a lot of information -- but feelings are vibratory -- when you have a feeling -- what you are experiencing is a vibration in the body and mind. Once that is started (if you hook into the thoughts as being true) -- it will go on a course until it peaks and then it will level down. I have seen this with myself many times over and over and the only way not to have this happen is to catch the thought before it takes over and focus on the opposite in order to not hook into the thought (think of it like a fish and a fisherman -- do not get hooked!!!). The only hard part with this is that something bigger has to overcome something little -- even with energy -- so if you are not in a high energy to begin with -- it is much easier for the lower vibrations to take over, since you will not have the energy to overcome it. Don't know if this is clear the way I am explaining it. This is why KY is helping me a lot with the mild to mod. negativity, it is giving me the higher vibrational rate to overcome the lower vibrational rate. Dr. David Hawkins discusses this in his book in saying that there are like two forms of energy -- Spiritual Power and Carnal Force -- only the Spiritual Power can overcome the Carnal Force and for me KY is one way to generate that Spiritual Power. Along with things I learned in my study -- to always think, feel and act as positive as possible. Follow the 12 laws of the soul at all times instead of their opposite: Faith/Hope/Courage/Patience/Duty/Aspiration/Generosity/Kindness/Sympathy/Forgive\ ness/ Non-Interference/Love. They all are very outlined and will keep you in a certain vibration vs. their opposites which in the study are termed " Laws of the Mind " . They also teach that once the mind has accepted a thought as a truth it starts a train of causation in the mind/body -- since the thought then goes into the subconscious where the spirit(executive portion) resides and will carry out that thought in the mind, body and environment, (this is why hypnosis works when you see people on the stage as the operator acts as their conscious mind and the participant's conscious is turned off and the directions are going straight to their subconscious and it is carried out to a " T " . In order to change that you need to change the thought. They teach by focusing on the opposite -- such as faith. Emotions all are polarities, there are the opposite poles to each of them. The only problem I have had with that is that my mind will just start on another issue in order to drag me down. In the past I would be totally exhausted from the mind being like a merry-go-round, once I'd overcome one thing, it would switch to another topic that was a sore one for me in order to get me down, and this would go on for hours. So for me, being the observer of the mind is very powerful, actually if you get really into it you will be able to eventually control your thoughts. I still struggle with negativity as I have posted here recently, but it is coming from the subconscious now. I had an extreme, very hard " Dark Night of The Soul " things happen to me as of 1996 during that year, I now realize it was the changes of the planets that brought about an almost complete collapse of the entire life I knew up until that point in time. I lost almost everything I held near and dear to myself and there were many days and nights that I didn't know if I could go on. I was in extreme agony over it all. After a few years I felt better -- what I learned is that " All I'll Ever Have is Me in My Life with My God " -- relationships are only for sharing. I saw how codependent I was. I also saw that those that leave my life -- I can still love them -- love does not ever have to leave. They may leave in physical form etc. -- but I will always love them. I can cherish all the memories and no one can ever take that away from me. No one can stop me from loving. The only thing is that I can pretty much be by myself and be happy now. Happiness real, true happiness is what in 12 step recovery -- terms as contentment -- it is not from the mind and you can learn to be content in almost any situation. I do need others to love, but I can always have my dog! In the study they say happiness does not depend upon any person, place or thing. I used to say to myself, it does not depend upon any particular person, place or thing -- this is true!!! Even Dr. Hawkins talks about that when people evolve spiritually they are happy beyond and this happiness does not come from outer circumstances. Good luck with your fears!!! : ) Christine
Guest guest
Hi Christine, Thanks for writing, I found your message very interesting but since it involves a lot of new ideas for me I don't feel ready to comment on it yet. I understood some references and ideas that were more familiar but the rest I am going to be chewing on for some time! It was nice of you to take the time to write, I really appreciate it. It's always good to see that there's people out there progressing and overcoming the problems I am facing, it gives me a lot of hope and encouragement to keep on practicing. I am going to check the books you mentioned, by the way I read a book on mindfulness that was very good and in that book there was a positive reference to " The Power of Now " that you mentioned. Thanks again and best wishes, Betin
