Guest guest
Sat Nam, I heard that Yogi Bhajan used to give the same spiritual name to men and women when they were married. What happens when a woman has already received a spiritual name? Does she quit it for the name of her husband when she gets married? Thanks for your answers. Guest guest
-Sat nam Yogi Bhajan often gave men and women the same spiritual name when they were married but not all the time. If a woman already has a spiritual name, then she keeps her spiritual name and the husband keeps his spiritual name. Guest guest
My experience was a bit unique. Before we got married my name was Sahib Kaur and my husband-to-be was Amar Singh. We were getting married with another couple who had two different names and Yogi Bhajan had told the woman to have the same name as the husband. We weren't sure what we should do so we went and asked him about our names. He looked at me closely and said, "Oh, you play that thing...?" pretending he was playing a violin. (I play the viola). " Then he said, "Your name must start with 'S.'" Then, as kind of an afterthought, he said, "Oh, but you can add his name onto yours if you want - so you will have one vibration." Which is exactly what I did. But he did leave the decision up to me. Sahib-Amar Kaur
