Sat Nam,

When we do the prayer pose chanting the mantra at the beginning of the class,

singing " Ong Namo Guru Dev " , what should be the angle between the hands and the

vertical axis? 0 degree? 45 degree?

Thanks for your answers

Good question! I am new to KY and I am learning from DVDs.....Nirvair

Khalsa says thumbs must rest against sternum. Unfortunately because I am

learning this way I do not have a teacher to ask and the nearest one to me

is 3 hours drive away.

I've been told that you " point your thumbs to God " . For most, I assume, that

means pointing them up - towards the sky.

However, for me I know that God is within me, all throughme, and about me...so,

personally, I point my thumbs toward myself.

lifetime. Our gift to God is to develop as much of that talent and ability as we

can in this lifetime. " ~ Bob Proctor

Sat Nam!

In the " Meditation to experience the Essence of a Teacher " (I've found

it in a page of 3HO site -

http://www.3ho.org/clients/3ho/Yoga.nsf/WebBoardSub/6322F5C19ECEDD8A87256EE70076\

2770?OpenDocument)

there is this comment:

" There is a very correct way to fold your hands at the heart center,

wich will bring the proper effect. Place the two palms flat together,

with the thumbs slightly extended away from the palms to for a " V " .

The fingers need to be pointing straight up, at exactly 90 degrees[...] "

I hope that can help you.

Sat Nam, from my KY books it states that the hands should be at a 45 degree

angle from the body. My teacher did not teach this to me..at least that I can

remember. However, over the the years as a teacher I did find this information

in one of the many books I have and this is what I teach my students.

Blessings

Akasha
