Guest guest
For high blood pressure, I would check first if it is due to arteries being blocked, or if it is due to stress. If it is arteries being blocked, then an alkaline diet is probably indicated, but I am not a nutritionist... that teacher would need to see either a doc or someone who can help them with their nutrition. If it is due to stress, any kundalini yoga will help. Do slow breath of fire instead of fast when BOF is indicated. try relaxing instead of doing KY in a militaristic way. For osteoporosis I would have my diet checked, diet drinks, sodas, dairy products, meats, can all contribute to bone loss. Calcium supplements with enough magnesium can also be a culprit. So before suggesting yoga, I would ask that teacher to see someone competent in nutrition. When their body has the nutrients it needs then yoga can help. Guest guest
Just last week I stumbled upon a machine that helps lower the blood pressure. The funny thing about it is....it teaches you to breath at 10 breaths a minute. Thats it! Along with this machine are over 7 studies done to prove how easy and without any drugs it can be done. The patients used the machine for 15 minutes a day and the blood pressure drops substantially. The cool thing about this is medical science has shown by breathing at 10 breaths a minute you can change your life! I mean we may have always known that, but now there are studies to back us up! In a yoga class we are constantly changing someones heart rate, their blood pressure, their stress level. and so on and so on. I think we should let more people know about the tremendous benefits of this wonderful teachings we have been given. Thanks, Siri Chand Singh Ashton, MD In the Name of the Cosmos which prevails through everyBody and the Holy Nam which holds the world. Guest guest
Here is one more. Sat nam, For osteroporis we have to weight bearing exercises. Perhaps an intense practice of Iyengar or Astanga yoga that focuses on weight bearing on the legs and arms would work. But nothing works like going to a gym that has a whole series of machines. The trick is to do them very slowly. And to do this about 3 times a week. I increased my bone density this way. And I did not stress and strain. I just calmly and slowly work on a whole series of machines. Takes 20-30 minutes. It is the only thing that worked for me. Obviously I have been doing yoga for years, but that did not prevent bone loss. I have been taking Calcium/magnesium supplement, all claim absorption capaciity. Awtar says " Calcium supplements with enough magnesium can also be a culprit. " I thought enough Mag was needed to absorb the CA, not that Mag was a problem. Please clarify. Tell her to join a gym. Guest guest
*Magnesium chloride* is a good way to eliminate Osteoporosis, Arthrites, high blood pressure and many others diseases related to bad calcium absorbing, not just our bones; But it's used by our cells to assimilate the calcium and clean up process. *Magnesium chloride* is a white powder produced from seawater after the sodium chloride has been removed, and the water evaporated. I believe it's a main compound of the *black salt,* but more concentrated. Being almost free " very cheapy " , the doctors don't want to use it, or don't know about that. beyond a good exercise, doing slowly, as Swimming, and breathing correctly do wonders. Guest guest
Sat nam, Yes, calcium absorption is very important. Thanks for refering us to magnesium chloride. But I repeat -- Weight bearing exercises are critical to strengthening our bones. You don't have to impossible heavy weight lifting, but you have to pressurize the bones with SLOW weight bearing routines. Swimming and breathing are good for the health, but in my experience do nothing to prevent bone reduction.
