Guest guest
Hi! My name is Sarah. I'm 28 years old, I live with my nieces Alyssa (7) and Isabel (4), my sister Steph (32) my Mom (52) and my step-dad Lyle I can't remember how old he is. I started reading yoga books at the library when I moved to Nevada. I do a few positions and I was wondering if anyone can describe to me or tell me if there are more positions posted here. I can't afford to go to classes as I am a poor college student. I have no clue the names of the positions I do now, except I do know one is the downward dog, and one is the warrior. I do a few in between that are easy and I'm looking for a bit more advanced things to help my back, knees, and shoulder. I got in a car accident when I was 10, so my back always hurts, my knees are bad because I've been overweight most of my life, and my shoulder has a pinched nerve. Since I'm poor I can't afford to get anything fixed. Can anyone suggest any positions? As soon as I can afford to I want to go to the yoga classes at least 3 times a week. Thanks in advance!! Guest guest
Sat Nam Sarah, There is a great website called www.yogacards.com that has lots of yoga asanas and meditations that you can do. There is also www.kundaliniyoga.org which has kundalini yoga for beginners. Good luck and love on your path, Love and Light . xx
Guest guest
Hi Sarah, I do yoga at home with DVDs. Have a look at www.yogatech.com I've been doing Nirvair Khalsa's series of DVDs - they are fantastic! Unfortunately in New Zealand there aren't many teaching this yoga and the nearest one to me is 3 hours drive away so the DVDs have been a wonderful thing to have. I bought them one at a time as I could afford them. Sat nam! Kundaliniyoga [Kundaliniyoga ] On Behalf Of Sarah Wednesday, 6 February 2008 3:58 p.m. Kundaliniyoga Kundalini Yoga More yoga Hi! Guest guest
I found out I do: Pigeon but I'm standing up, I move into Downwardfacing Dog, Cobra, then stretch straight out, roll over, do some crunches, then I do One Leg seated revolved twist, but the leg that is supposed to be straight, I bend back and the back of my elbow is on my knee, then Parsvakonasana, but my arm goes on the inside of my body behind my heel, into Virabhadrasana 2, then the other side with Parsvakonasana and Viravhadrasana 2. Is this that I was doing a different type of Yoga that some of my positions are different? I'm not really understanding what the differences are. What makes one type of Yoga the type it is? Are there more than one type of Yoga? Thank you very much for your answers before and the ones that will be given.
