Guest guest
dear experts, seeking for help! I suffer from RSI. The pain is in both elbows, lower arms and hands. It comes from typing and mouse-work.The only post I can find here is an unanswered question about RSI from 2005... does anyone know exercices or has any advice that might help? Or in general - should I avoid arm-exercices or seek them? I tried some, but am unsure if they caused more pain or reduced it. any advice? Thanks und warm regards, vroni
Guest guest
Hello vroni, I work with issues like yours daily in my bodywork practice. And take the advice of the senior people here. (I am a 1 year newbie) If you can find a good, credentialed Neuromuscular therapist to help treat and restore the soft tissue damage this would be good. Also have you had your cervical area examined by a qualified professional? (To be sure there is no cervical disc involvement) You can email me privately and I can send you some specific exercises (non kundalini) and self care instructions to help. Ergonomics and micro breaking are also important. the correction of the faulty body mechanics at work and also the restorative exercises are key. Also a anti inflammatory diet would help. Almost vegan... Without seeing yo this is about all I can say.. I am sure you will feel better soon once implementing some of the suggestions that people post. Guest guest
Hi Vroni, I started geting RSI about 5 years ago from working on computers. The web sites www.rsirescue.comhas a diagram showing what the factors involved are. I realised stresswas a major component and tried lots of things to de-stress and I havebeen RSI free for the last few years. The Alexander technique workedwell for me. Tai Chi is good too. But nothing worked like Kundaliniyoga in terms of effectiveness combined with affordability! My ATleartning i think helped me get the best from some aspects of yoga. There are 2 approaches:- 1 - Target your actual injury. I don't like this idea - RSI is a symptom of an all over problem. Working on specific areas may just create more imbalances. 2- All over de-stressing. K yoga achieves this. Symptoms start to goaway and you will find whatever 'caused' your RSI will cause you lessproblems as time goes by. It took me maybe 2 years to improve to thepoint I could work on computers for 9 hours a day with no problems atall. I was under great stress during this time so hopefully it will befaster for you. Massage and stretching can help with immediatesymptoms (to reduce pain) but if you are a normally stressed person orworse then yoga is needed to work at the fundamental level. www.selfcare4rsi.com has good info on stretching to help. It also expliand the various 'types' of RSI and what (some of) the problem actually is. Asyou progress your proprioception comes more into conciousness - you canfeel what's going on inside your body - then excercises may help. Inthe early days you can't realy feel so much what their effect is so youmay be doing more harm than good. RSI is not a problem solved bybuilding strength anywhere - it is solved mainly by reducing opposingmuscle tension which puts great unnecessary force on your tendons, interferes with nerves and impairs lymph drainage. Manypeople have recovered from all sorts of MSD's (Mucular SkeletalDisoders) like RSI using such methods - which are not known in themedical world except by a very few doctors so treat medical advice withgreat caution. Best of luck, Keith. PS There is a mailing list called SOREHAND which is good for advice. Thereis a lot of advice - listen to people who actually recovered ! Muchadvice is from people who only use medical means and believe there isno cure - but there is! vroni <vhampl Kundaliniyoga Wednesday, February 27, 2008 5:38:43 PM Kundalini Yoga Repetetive Strain Injury - RSI dear experts, seeking for help!
